It was really bright when Alison opened her eyes. She could feel the sunlight streaming in from the windows a few feet away from the bed she was laying on. The warmth on her face was comforting.

Unlike the last time she had woken up, Ali felt less disoriented this time. The room wasn't spinning and she was able to form clear thoughts in her head. The memories from before came back to her. Gwen and her brother, rogues chasing her and when one finally caught up to her and impaled her with his claws. Wincing at the memories, Alison decided to focus her thoughts on her surroundings instead.

She was in a small room with two windows. The walls were made of wood, much like the cabin she had been in the last time. But something in her knew that they weren't in the same place as before. The air smelt different.

There was a wooden chair placed right beside her bed. Along with an IV drip she was hooked up to, there was also a monitor showing her vital signs.

Just as she was moving to sit up from the bed, Alison could hear voices getting louder, approaching the room she was in. Immediately, she got back into her previous position and closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep.

She could hear the voices louder now, and the sound of a key sliding into the lock on the door before it swung open. There were two voices, one Ali knew belonged to Cadius and the other unfamiliar.

The unfamiliar voice said, "Cade, I'm just saying that maybe you've got the wrong girl."

'Thank you, stranger. That's what I've been telling him too,' Ali thought internally.

"That is not possible. I'm right, I know I am," Cadius replied.

The stranger sighed as Cadius explained to him about his findings and how he was so sure that Alison was the right girl. It was the same bullshit he had told Alison.

"Look, Cade. If what you're saying is true, then how come she couldn't even defend herself with these so called powers when she was escaping? Not to mention, this girl is healing like a human right now, maybe even worse."

"Because she isn't the Goddess, not yet. All Goddesses require some sort of a trigger, something that unlocks that potential before they become the actual Goddess that the prophecy says they will become!" Cadius explained enthusiastically.

Although his intentions were nefarious, Alison had to applaud him for being a man with perseverance and determination. He was much like a dog with a bone. Once he had it in his mouth, there was no way anybody was taking that bone away from him.

"Aloysius, trust me on this. This will be the single best thing you will ever experience in your life when you realize that I was right and Ali is the Goddess I've been looking for," Cadius convinced.

"I highly doubt that," the voice Ali knew now belonged to Aloysius muttered.

"I have no doubts about that. When you witness her awakening, it'll be the best moment in your life. Hell, I'm willing to bet that it'll be a thousand times better than the first time you met your mate."

There was a loud growl that startled her. Ali knew that she had slightly flinched, but she hoped that neither of them would've noticed that she'd been listening.

"Don't talk about me meeting my mate like you know anything, brother. You don't know anything about what that's like because you're not privileged enough for the Moon Goddess to give you such an amazing gift," Aloysius snarled, his voice rough and filled with an emotion so strong Alison could feel it herself – pain, reflected loud and clear in his voice. The sound of a door slamming came immediately after that.

"Ooh, looks like I touched a nerve, didn't I?" she could hear Cadius ask. The sound of footsteps approached her as Ali stayed as still as she could.
