Kyungsoo had become rather dreary in preparation for EXO's new comeback and as his girlfriend, it didn't matter how many times you said you understood, both of you know that you truly didn't. You weren't an idol. You instead worked a casual job, 9-5 whilst Kyungsoo was forced to dance until he collapsed and sing under his throat ached every night.
Sometimes, when he fell into bed next to you, you had wondered if he was truly happy with his career. He only ever complained about it and it seemed that the comeback was making him feel worse.
For the first few weeks you were wracked with guilt as you tried to come up with some sort of answer to unlock that beautiful heart shaped smile. Yet to no avail, you came up clueless.
On the fourth week, when the bags under Kyungsoo's eyes were prominent and dark enough to be considered a thunder cloud, did you finally take you complaints to the SM building.
"He's tired" "He's almost lifeless" "He isn't happy" No matter how hard you nailed your case into the ground, EXO's manager refused him rest. When you had arrived home that day, Kyungsoo was seated stiffly on the barstool in your kitchen. His eyes were heavy and his hair sleepily dishevelled.
"My manager called me today" At those words you could feel your uneasiness rise. You didn't know whether or not that manager was any good, yet you remained silent.
"He told me what you said and I just wanted to say thank you" He revealed the first genuine smile you had seen in weeks and it truly was worth the wait.
"No one else would've had the guts to do that" He continued as he opened his arms from the counter. Your hesitation was non-existent as you raced into his arms. The familiar scent and firmness of his hugs was something that always made you at home.
"I love you" he whispered, before burying his face into the crook of your neck.
