Endings Begin

I remember every moment
I walked down the aisle with you.
People smiled.
We were happy, that's what they knew.

As you took my hand in yours,
I closed my eyes.
I felt numb.
For I am too different from she who you adore.

I looked back,
And saw her,
Watching us from the last pew.
She smiled, wishing us luck.

She has changed.
She no longer smiles the way she used to.
She no longer laughs out loud.
She was a happy woman once, but that has faded.

I was that woman, happy before I met you.
But I loved you, and it killed me.
We were happy, why it changed I never knew.
But I fell out of love,  and it will hurt you as it did me.

I loved you, and it killed me.
But I don't want to hurt you too.
I no longer love you, and it kills me.
But I'd still say, "I do."
