Unstoppable

Chapter 3

The group stands in the opening of the forest, doubt and second thoughts play against some of their minds. Each one knows, that once they step into that forest it will never be the same.

"Are we ready to do this?" Adapta asks without breaking eye contact with the forest that seems to be staring back.

"Do we really have a choice?" Changeling says answering Adapta's question with another.

"If there are Shifters in the woods should we even speak aloud?" Damian asks, the young heroes exchange glances with each other.

"Ig, do your thing" Hydro say touching the forearm of Ignite, she nods and peacefully closes her eyes, a look of concentration takes over her face.

"We can always speak here" Hydro speaks only he wasn't speaking with his voice. It seems so loud it appears to be in their mind.

"Whoa! That's what she does?" Adapta asks aloud.

"One of the things," Hydro answers vaguely, shooting Ignite a glance she returns it by shaking her head.

"Does she speak?" Changing asks snotily shooting Ignite a glare.

"Only to me,  me let's stop talking and get into that forest. The telepathy will help us make a plan" Hydro says adjusting his uniform. The group exchanged glances of agreement and step forward into the dark place.

The forest seems to come alive when they step through, buzzing with the chirps of birds and crickets. The sound sends chills up Adapta's spine making the hair on the back of her neck stand up. The anxious teens walk in silence between them.

"So does anyone know how to tell the difference between a shifter and one of us?" Adapta asks swatting a bug that had landed on her arm. 

"You didn't notice back at the school?"  Damian asks Adapta, she shakes her head her blonde hair shaking enthusiastically with her movement.  

"Zey can copy our looks but not our powers" Changling answers, Adapta nods slowly in understanding. 

A whole big hilfe that will be if we weib es nicht everyone's powers...  Changling thinks to herself. 

Hours go by and the young five still walk silently through the path in the woods. A strong breeze of air sweeps through the path, sending shivers down Ignite's body; she looks up in the trees and down the path. She couldn't hear what was going on the only thing she can hear is the music blasting through her headphones. 

"Hyrdo, someone's here" She speaks privately into Hydro's mind he looks at her and gives her a nod. 

"Keep your eyes peeled" Hydro says his voice dripping with warning, he peers over to Ignite, she is at a disadvantage with her hearing blocked out by music, but he knows that is for everyone's safety. 

An ear splitting scream erupts out of the forest, the teens grab their ears in agony, falling to their knees. Ignite, who remained unaffected, looks at her teammates in shock. Quickly she scans the forest for the source of what is causing the visible pain. As she peers into the forest she spots a pair of glowing eyes that appear to moving closer, getting bigger. The owner of these eyes walks out of the dark of the forest her mouth ajar. Coming from this women's mouth seems to be a rippling affect. The women's eyes widened at the sigh of the unharmed Ignite. 

Ignite thrusts her hands forward sending flames out of her palms. The mystery women steps back shielding her eyes from the warmth of the flames. When she looked back Ignite was gone. The banshee frantically searches the forest for the fiery teen. Ignite is nowhere to be seen. Suddenly the women is shot forward without warning, she attempts to catch herself with her hands but isn't quick enough. Ignite grabs her by the hair pulling her head back. Despite the action she appears calm. The Banshee screams stop allowing the rest of the team to recover. The Banshee flails her arms around searching for anything to grab. 

Meanwhile the rest of the group has stood up,their ears still ringing from the Banshee's screams. 

"I guess those headphones do come in handy" Adapta says 

"You have no idea" Hydro whispers to himself. They continue to watch the fight go down as Ignite seems to have it under control. The women is still thrashing, she grabs whatever she could, snatching the headphones off of Ignite's ears.

"Shit!" Hydro exclaims, sprinting forward. Ignite's expression changes, anger arising from her face. Her eyes turning into a fiery orange. She grips the women's hair tighter, pulling her up and taking her other hand, wrapping it around the Banshee's neck. 

"No! Ignite listen to me do not kill her" Hydro demands, Ignite refuses to even look in his direction. She furrows her brow together and squeezes the women's throat. Hydro looks around for Ignite's headphones. He spots them lying on the dirt path, he runs to them and hastily sneaks behind Ignite, she won't hurt him, she cant unless she wants to release the Banshee. Hydro forces the headphones back onto her ears and watches as her body retracts the flames. he looks around and releases the Banshee who coughs and struggles to breath, The rest if the team gawks in horror at the hot headed girl. 

"Okay, you wanna tell us what the hell that was?" Damian asks 

"It's not for me to tell" Hydro says plainly. Ignite grabs the women off the ground by the back off her neck. 

"Run" she hisses at the women which was the first word anyone but Hydro have heard her say. The women obeys and runs back into the dark of the woods. 

"So how about she tell us" Adapta snaps shooting glares at Ignite. 

"Ja, I think we are entitled to some answers" Changling adds, Hydro shakes his head an opens his mouth to speak. 

"You are not entitled to anything, don't get your rights mixed." Ignite say putting everyone in shock once again. 

"How did you-"

"I can read lips" Ignite states stopping Adapta in her tracks 

"Can I tell them?" Hydro asks into Ignite's mind, she rolls her eyes and nods 

"If it will shut them up" She says back into his mind, she folds her arms across her chest and sighs. 

"Okay look, obviously she has anger issues it's something she is working on. Music is calming to her, acts as a anchor to her sanity. So she listens to music 24/7 to keep herself from hurting anyone or herself" Hydro vaguely explains. 

"So she can't hear anything?"Changling asks making hand gestures to her head.

"She reads lips and can feel vibrations she adapts pretty quickly. Her powers only can be controlled when her anger is. It just has a downside." He says looking at her as they walk and explain. 

"Can't you just cool her down?" Adapta asks walking fast paced to keep up with the rest of the group, making up for lost time they spent. 

"I could but, not without hurting her cold and hear don't really mix well" Hydro explains looking at Ignite, her bright red eyes focused on reading what he is saying. Walking and lip reading is never easy. 

"So basically she is a liability" Damian says, he gets an evil look from Hydro in return. 

"She is also the best chance we have at winning. She is powerful it just comes with a price" Hydro says, Damian scoffs and shakes his head. 

"What's that? Our lives?" Damian asks 

"Oh my fucking god, shut up we still don't know what your power is. Now we can sit here and argue about if I am s good thing or a bad thing but it won't help us get to the real threat." Ignite says turning to Damian and stopping the group. Adapta's jaw drops and Damian shrugs in defeat. They have a long road ahead of them, and from the looks of it they have a lot to get through.
