Unstoppable

Chapter 8

A mile away from the exit of the forest was a city, not a small town like the team suspected. The city brings up memories in a lot of the teens, memories of struggles and cruelty. They walk the streets, some new to the scene, the horns and people all around.

"We didn't get an instruction manual for learning how to sense this person did we?" Damian asks sarcastically.

"Zere was a manual?" Changling asks

"No, he's kidding. The dean never really explained how that works, I guess we have to wing it" Hydro says bluntly as he looks around cautiously. They stick out like a sore thumb with their matching uniforms and some with their unnatural eye color.

"Keep your heads low if you have non-human like eyes" Hydro demands putting his head down. Ignite follows, it's hard to navigate through the city without her sight and hearing. She glances up every so often, being sure to not make eye contact with anyone.

"Hydro! I think I found something" Adapta yells. Hydro turns around swiftly.

"What is it?" he asks looking around to make sure no one heard that. Having their.....unique names might also put them at a disadvantage here.

"You see that ally about two steps behind me?" Adapta asks without turning her head.

"Yeah, I see it" Hydro replies

"Shifters, they were back there with some other guy" Adapta says, Hydro looks around urgently.

"Changling do you mind?" He asks she smiles sweetly and shakes her head, Hydro and Adapta stand in front of her so no one sees her change into a rat and take off into the ally. She moves swiftly stopping at the guys dressed in all black, then pretends to go through the nearby trash so she doesn't look suspicious as she listens.

"We held up our side of the agreement, now it's your turn" A shifter demands coldly.

"Okay man, ju-just listen I don't have the, ummm money right now but I will have it to you by tomorrow" the man says frantically, tripping over his own words.

"You have three hours, if no money by then we find you and cut your balls off since you didn't have the balls to do the job yourself" the other Shifter threatens, grabbing the man by the collar and pulling him close.

"Okay, yeah yeah. Can I ask a question?" The man asks as the shifter releases his collar roughly, sweat drips off his face.

"Make It fast" the first one says

"Why do you do these jobs? You guys could do a lot more" He asks with a sigh

"We all start out somewhere, in the magical world we are more known than here. Octavia says we need to be smart, start small" Another answers, with that Changling turns around and head out back into the crowd. Upon seeing her Hydro and Adapta create a barrier between the crowd and the rat.

"AAAAH! A RAT!" Damian squeals jumping back

"It's just Changling!" Adapta says, Hydro stand pressing his lips together clearly amused by Damian's outburst.

"What? I don't like rats" He says as Changling changes back into herself. Changling links arms with Adapta and walks away hiding their giggles.

"Vhere are ve headed?" Changling asks

"The nearest park, we need a place to hang out and brief each other, plus we can use some of our street skills to score us some cash." Hydro explains looking around to see any signs of a park.

"Oh my gosh! Are those your real eyes?" a loud voice sounds as a women approaches Hydro and the team

"Yeah..sorry they are so weird" Hydro says looking down at the ground, the women shakes her head frantically.

"No, no they are beautiful!" The women gushes, her eyes are wide in awe, anymore awe in those eyes and they would have been heart shaped.

"Oh, well umm thank you" Hydro stumbles over his words clearly dumbfounded. His bright blue eyes were an odd match with his dark skin.

"I'm Trish by the way" The women says extending a hand to him, he grabs it and quick thinks about what to say. Hydro is a bit of an odd name to give to a human.

"Tyrone!" Hydro blurts, Ignite snaps her head up instantly glaring at their touching hands.

"Woah!" Trish exclaims fearfully at the sight of Ignite's naturally crimson eyes. Trish's expression is utterly spooked.

"Ignite, play nice" Hydro says telepathically to Ignite. She archs an eyebrow at him, Trish retracts her hand slowly.

"Sorry, her eyes kind of took me by surprise." Trish claims

"It's okay, she has a defect like me" Hydro lies

"A defect? Thanks" Ignite sends back, he looks down to her and sighs deeply.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to piss off your girlfriend" Trish says sweetly putting her hands up in defense, Hydro shakes his head.

"She's not my girlfriend, can you help us out?" Hydro asks trying to change the subject and find a park all in one.

When they reach the park Trish says goodbye to the odd group. Ignite glaring daggers as she strides away from them.

"Why are you glaring at her?" Adapta asks telepathically, Ignite sighs angrily

"I'm hoping she will combust" Ignite replies back, Hydro shakes his head and closes his eyes, the temper on this one. Although her anger is rightfully placed, sometimes it can be at the worst times. This time she is angry because Hydro didn't tell Trish just any name, he told her his real name, which can be dangerous to him.

"So who knows how to pick pocket?" Hydro asks the team, he receives a shrug from Changling

"I don't know, Tyrone" Adapta teases he sighs and shakes his head.

"Hydro is a little weird of a name to give to a human" Hydro says

"You couldn't think of any other name? Make something up? Had to give her your real name do you know how dangerous that is?" Ignite grills, again no pun intended.

"Wait, that's your real name?" Adapta asks in shock, her mouth ajar.

"Yeah, why am I the only one who has one?" Hydro asks rolling his eyes, surely everyone has a real name, not everyone is okay with sharing it with others quite yet.

"No, mine is Damien" Damian says sarcastically.

"Mine is Skyla " Adapta admits shrugging her shoulders.

"Does Ignite have one?" Damian asks, Hydro shrugs

"That is something she would probably burn me alive for telling you" Hydro admits, looking at her sit down underneath a tree, the rest of the tree starts to walk to follow. Changling laughs and shakes her head.

"Zwhy does that not surprise me?" Changling asks
