Disaster, the word that describes the event. It also describes the left over or the school, ash still rains down on the open field. The smell of burning wood and flesh stings the air. The sun beats down on the survivors. For most the sun isn't a problem, for very few the blistering heat and the sun could somehow become a problem. The Staff had handed out different, clean uniforms that had survived the fire to students who asked.
"How are you feeling?" Ignite asks Hydro he gives her a sly smirk while forming a snowball in his hand. Ignite let's out a chuckle, she worries the hot sun will effect him, much like the fire did. So far he seems to be recovering fast. Ignite looks around at the survivors, the school of two hundred thousand kids has now turned to a school of maybe two hundred. The remaining staff gather the students into one area. The Dean of the school, a tall women with short red hair appears normal in every way, steps in front of the crowd or worry-stricken teens.
"Attention everyone, I know you all are worried and scared some of you angry, and we would just like you to know this won't go unpunished. We have gone through the files and scores of all the remaining students. Thanks to Dr. Foyer's photographic memory. When I call your name please step forward" The dean says, Dr. Foyer, a small man, with a beard. He is basically the only doctor on campus, but he remembers everything he reads, which makes him an expert at just about anything. He hands her a half burnt piece of paper, the thing she is reading the names off of no doubt. Everyone listens carefully, curious on who's name will be called and why.
"Changling...Adapta...Hydro...Ignite...and Damian," She reads as each name is called the students make their way up, Hydro dragging Ignite by the hand. They all line up beside the dean. Waiting for the what was in store for them to be revealed.
"Dear, can you take off your headphones?" The dean asks Ignite, Hydro sends a look to the dean one that could kill if looks could.
"Ma'am that's not a good idea" Dr. Foyer says stepping through recalling something he read in her file about her headphones. The Dean nods and begins her speech.
"We have chosen these students to help defend our school, I know it's sudden but they have a unique skill set needed to stop this" she says, she receives shocked glances from the five chosen students.
"Whoa! When did I agree to this?" Damian asks defensively.
They at seriously going to send us out there without no real warning or training? Damian thought to himself.
"Unfortunately, when you signed the agreement form earlier in the year. You said you would defend the school if it needs you, well....the school needs you" she replies
"Shit," Damian mutters to himself. When the teens were appointed, the dean then pulls them aside. They are handed new different uniforms, really different than the rest of the Students. These were not basic Clothing. They are made from a new material. No doubt meant to blend with their powers.
"I understand this is hard, we have information that they are planning another attack. They left behind one of their shifters we need you to track them down, we need to track them down. We only know they left a power trail through the forest. Once you are out of there it should be easy to find and destroy them." She demands, it sends chills through Adapta's spine making the hair on the back of neck stand up.
Her eyes are red and puffy, dried tears were under her eyes and across her cheeks. She still looks around to see Mirnia anywhere hoping that maybe, she had gotten out and just couldn't find Adapta again. So far, there was no such luck of this.
"So we go in through the woods?" Hydro asks obviously puzzled.
"The forest has magic properties that shields our school from human view, so their trail was lost, but you will feel it when you get out on the other side." She explains. It then clicks with the students. They look around at each other; almost all of them are strangers to each other.
"This is going to be a mess" Ignite says into Hydro's head, he smiles and looks down to her. Her telepathic abilities allow them to have mental conversations, out of hear shock of listening ears.
"Tell me about it. I'm outnumbered" he joked back into her mind, she scoffs and playfully hits him in the shoulder.
"Am I missing something?" Damian asks noticing they seemed to be communicating without words. Hydro simply shakes his head and focuses his attention back to the dean.
"Okay, so Zwhat are we supposed to do? Zey outnumber us" Changling says she hated this idea, she didn't know these people, she has no idea what they can do. She felt like the two elementol kids would team up against her. They already seem pretty chummy.
"Shifters only take another form, they have a boss find them and shut them down. We wouldn't have picked you five if we thought you couldn't handle it." Dean replies. Damian scoffs and shakes his head he thinks he doesn't need a team. He can do this all on his own. He sends a hateful glare at the two elementol kids, he doesn't trust anyone that can talk without talking, leaves room for so much planning and side conversations.
"When do we leave?" Hydro asks
