Levi's POV

Cath's due date is in two weeks, and I'm really nervous. Not about money though, because we're pretty stable in that department. Her novel's been a huge hit, and we're predicting it'll be a New York Times Bestseller in a couple years.
I'm nervous for Cath. I hate seeing her in any pain, let alone what she'll have to go through, while in labour. However, it'll all be worth it in the end.

Her dad, Wren, and Wren's husband, Jandro are driving down next week, so that they can be here when the baby's born. Wren and Jandro got married last year, but haven't had any children yet. They are planning to, but they've decided to wait a few years. Cath and I would've probably waited a few years too, however things didn't go quite as planned. Although, as much of a change as this is, I wouldn't change a thing.

"I'm getting sick of this belly!" Cath yells from the kitchen, while making dinner.

"I have to cook with my side facing the stove, so I don't burn my stomach"

"Don't worry, sweetheart. Our baby will be out of there in no time" I say, which makes her laugh.

"I'm really scared Levi" she says, suddenly serious.

"So am I. But we'll get through this together" I assured her.

"I mean, we've never done this before. I'm going to be a mother. And you're going to be a dad. What if we mess up?"

"We're bound to make mistakes Cath. Everyone does. But everything will happen for a reason, and we will learn" I reply. She seems to look a little less worried, at my small attempt to comfort her. I have to be strong for both of us, even when I'm worried as hell on the inside.

Later that evening, I'm putting the final touches on the baby's nursery. I told Cath that I wouldn't need her help from here on, because I wanted to surprise her with a few additional details. It costed quite a bit of money, but I think she'll be really happy with what I've done. I made wooden letters spelling "Ruby" and sent them in to a jeweller. I'm getting the letters covered in actual rubies, and I'm mounting them to one of the walls. I'm going to pick them up in a couple hours, and the nursery will be finished.

2 hours later

I have to go pick up the letters now, but Cath can't come, because I don't want her to see them yet.

"I just have to go pick up something for the nursery" I tell her.

"Alright. I'm pretty tired and I don't feel so well, so I'm probably going to go to bed" she replies.

"Ok just call me if you need anything"

She smiles "yeah, yeah. I'll be fine. I'm sure it won't take you that long"

"I'm serious Cather. If you start feeling worse, or just need anything please call me" I tell her.

"I will Levi. Don't worry"

Cath's POV

I didn't tell Levi this, but I've had bad cramps all afternoon. They weren't getting any worse, so I thought they'd go away. They haven't. I honestly thought I'd be fine while Levi was gone, but the cramps are getting worse. A lot worse. I don't think they're contractions, because I'm not due for 2 weeks. But, since I've never been pregnant before, I don't really know what they feel like.
After a few more minutes, I can't take it any more. I'm literally on the ground clutching my stomach in pain. It takes all my strength to get up and grab the phone.

Levi's POV

I can't believe how amazing the letters turned out. I'm at the store right now, paying, and my cellphone rings. I pull it out and it's Cath. Shit.
