Freeze Over
When the icy winter comes
With revenge on summer for takings it's place-
The lake begins to freeze over.
Each particle, molecule and atom
Takes its place in creating a shield of ice
As strong as the rock that held Excalibur.
The ice creeps over the lake swiftly
Like mist creeping through a graveyard.
Once frozen over the skaters come
And cut into the ice with their blades
To leave scars, the remnants of winter joy.
Until...
The warmth of spring comes barging in
And the perfume of blossoms fill the air
Then the scars on the ice melt away
Along with the rest of the icy shield
