Lullaby
Can you let me rest my head on your lap
And sing me to sleep?
Teach me how to smile once again and laugh,
Teach me how to forget to weep.
Tell me tales of love happy and beautiful
Which transcend through ages.
Soothe my soul, run your fingers softly across
My heart's walls and broken edges.
Scream the devils to silence, call over angels
So we can build a castle and play.
Ask time to dig its grave and die so that we can
Love forever and always stay.
Remind me how it was when we were together,
When this mess hadn't come to exist.
Yesterday's songs and melodies we sang are stuck
Yet I can't sing them again to persist.
Hold on to me, till I fall asleep and even beyond
Don't go away when it's daylight.
Even though when the daybreak sweeps across,
Please stay, help me to breathe and fight.
