Time Plays
Crap she's up!
said the devil, when my boots hit the ground
for two days in a row, it was calm and quite
but day three was different.
I kicked off my bed sheets
hit the floor with my boots
smiled at the whisper common to my ears
I heard the devil curse under his breath
it was a deja vu I'd never miss.
As I was about to grab my sword,
I heard my admirers out in my yard.
See I was not the biggest fan of my fans
but be honest, who hates the adulation?
who desents the chant of their names?
So, I threw my shoulders back
and walked out straighter
to find the packed gathering
holding papers shouting 'beautiful', 'number one', 'best of all' and 'warrior'
cuz that's what I was told earlier
when I shone fierce and brighter.
Preposterous of me, I was shocked at the sight
my mouth gaped and I froze in fright
the hands that clapped then,
were holding sticks and stones
my awesome names and titles
were replaced with 'bitch', 'dumb' and 'worthless'
I averted my gaze back and forth
from the small child in a crib at the corner
to that old lady next door.
They were played by time too
seemed like they wanted their revenge
so I turned on my heels and ran off to escape
and I thought I had gotten away,
till a brick smashes against my head.
I scream loud in my sleep
and send my hand to wipe a sweat
my eyes dart around
and I was still in my small bed.
As my ragged breath got even,
there clicked in my lesson
I was sure I'll get famous, rich and smarter
I'd get happier when I'm older
daisies and roses would it be forever and after.
But then I saw the road is no flat
there are hills and valleys
you will climb up on and slide back down
time's gonna make you different
but please stay unfazed
for the destiny's in ur hands
despite the good old and the bad new times
you have the power to flip it better
eventhough time, is the play maker!!
