can't promise forever.

"Ok and?" Alessandra said as nonchalantly as ever. My eyes practically popped out of my head at how casual Alessandra was being about this. I wasn't going to let her be ok with the high possibility that she might be murdered.

I quickly took Alessandra off my lap and stood up away from her. She looked genuinely confused as to why I stepped away from her but I was in shock.

"Are you serious right now Alessandra? You're ok with this? People want to kill you, people want to take away the one woman I truly lo-" I stopped before I said 'The L Word' Knowing that if Alessandra didn't feel the same way she would get freaked out and run for the hills. But quite honestly I was the same way, up until a couple of months ago.

"Rocco I don't know why you're so worked up about this. Bounties are placed on people all the time it doesn't mean that they'll be collected." Alessandra leaned against my desk still not understand that she wasn't just some random person. A lot of people in our world don't like her and would love to see her gone.

I took a deep breath and shook my head. Looking down I chuckled a little. She really didn't get it. She's the daughter of one of the most influential, feared man in the world. She took over his mafia and now she and I are getting married in mere weeks.

"Alessandra the bounty reward is for two hundred million dollars. I don't know many bounty hunters who wouldn't take that. Now I wouldn't be going mental like this if I thought that I could take this bounty off. I can't, I can't take the bounty off, I can't make this go away. Look I really care about you, Alessandra. I don't know what I'll do when somebody takes this bounty." Alessandra smiled a little before walking towards me. Her soft hands came to my arms and rubbed them up and down.

"They want me dead that bad, didn't know I was worth that much?" She asked comically, anger quickly rose in my chest as I roughly shoved her hands off of me. Instead of lashing out I simply walked out of my office, slamming the door behind me.

I found myself making a beeline to the bar grabbing a bottle of whiskey. Making my way to the garage I didn't bother getting a glass I took large, gulping swigs out of the bottle. The beeping of my car lock unlocking sounded throughout the garage as I got in my car. I wasn't planning on going anywhere but I figured this wouldn't be one of Alessandra's first places to look for me.

I took some time to let the liquor calm me down and let me think. I wasn't drunk I know how to handle my liquor. I was slightly tipsy. I could still think very clearly and knew how furious and hurt I was from Alessandra being so uncaring that she will potentially be taken away from me.

Twenty minutes came and went before I heard the garage door open and Alessandra's shoe covered feet padding gently against the concrete floor. I stuck my eyes ahead of me but I noticed my car door open and a now fully clothed Alessandra got in. She did something unexpected and a little weird. She put on her seat belt, knowing that the car wasn't started and the keys weren't even in the ignition.

"What are you doing?" I spat rudely not bothering to even look at her trying to hurt her as I was hurt. She intertwined her fingers and put her hands in her lap.

"If you're leaving so am I." I furrowed my eyebrows as I was now looking at her. Her natural curls fell beautifully in front of her face. There were zero traces of any kind of makeup on her face as well, she looked better without it anyway. Her whole body turned to me so we were face to face.

"I can't promise you forever Rocco, I wish I could. But what I can promise you is right now. Because whether you like it or not, I'm in love with you. Madly, crazily, insanely in love with you. Was I was more scared to tell you that then when you told me about the bounty? Yes. Am I scared about the bounty, also yes, but do I know that I can protect myself and you will protect me as well, yes?" My liquor hazy eyes met her beautiful green ones as my own slightly glassed over.

"But what if I can't?" My voice was slightly raspy and thick with emotion. The thought of Alessandra dying on my watch killed me. "I love you Alessandra, I don't know what I'd do with myself god-forbid something happened to you." Our foreheads found each other and hers rested against mine.

Alessandra brought her hands up and caressed my smooth face gently. She shook her head and cupped my face. Alessandra made me look at her and once again shook her head but this time it was more firm.

"You can Rocco, I know you can, I know you will." There's was nothing more to say at that moment. So I grabbed Alessandra's face and smashed her lips against mine. This kiss was different than any of our others.

This kiss was emotional, loving, needy. We needed each other more than we realized. Nothing could take me away from Alessandra, I'm very confident in saying that. If she dies, I'll die too. My heart, my soul, my sanity, would go with her. Alessandra owned all those things and I was okay with it. She's the only person that I'd ever give those things too.

"I will be with you as long as you will have me. You may not be able to promise forever, but I can promise eternity. I'll never let go of you Alessandra, for as long as I live." A big smile appeared on Alessandra's face as she nodded.

Tears began to slide down Alessandra's cheek but I quickly swiped them away. Every time Alessandra cried my heart constricted with pain. A sob broke free from her mouth. I pulled her from the passenger seat into my lap and ran my hand down her hair trying to comfort her.

"P-please don't l-let them t-take me away f-from you!" She yelled slightly as more and more tears fell from her eyes. Alessandra was terrified of not leaving the physical word or dying but of not being with me anymore.

I knew I had to do anything and everything I could do to keep her safe. The fact that she was this worked up over this killed me and made me angry.

"I won't let anyone even touch you amore, I promise." Alessandra lifted her face from my chest and sniffled a little. Her big doe eyes were red from crying and the rest of her face flustered. I pushed a couple strands of hair out of her face before giving her a weak smile.

"You promise?" I nodded giving her perfectly pouted lips a light kiss.

"I promise to protect you always Alessandra. Forever and always."
