It had seemed like hours before Rocco and I got out of the car and went back inside. I looked up at the clock and realized that Mia would be here in less than an hour. I swore under my breath and released myself from Rocco's tight hold.
"Where are you going?" Rocco asked slightly annoyed that I was walking away. I stopped and wiped the remnants of my tears from my face. A night out would surely make me feel better.
"Mia and I are going out, she'll be here soon." My voice was slightly smaller than usual because I knew how Rocco would react and it wouldn't be good. His eyebrows furrowed deeply and his arms found their way to be crossed against his chest.
"After the whole talk, we just had you're going to go out and party? Alessandra, you can't be serious. My sister will more than understand if you cancel let's find a way to get the bounty off your head before you start drinking out in public." Rocco's tone was hard and no-nonsense. He was set on not letting me go out.
I sighed heavily knowing I wasn't getting out of this. I nodded and picked up my phone to call Mia. "But-" I started trying once more to get Rocco to budge. I knew he had a point I just didn't want to agree and go along with it.
"No," Rocco stated as firmly as ever, he wasn't going to let me walk out of this house if it was the last thing he did. I sighed in defeat knowing I'd lost this battle. I nodded and shot Mia a quick text saying that I couldn't go out after all.
"Happy?" I asked showing him the text I sent Mia. His smile practically reached his ears which were rare. Seeing Rocco smile lately, there has been little to nothing to smile about.
"Very happy." Rocco's arms snaked around my waist pulling me close. He placed a chaste kiss on my forehead. A content sigh flew out of my mouth as I relished in the feeling of being in Rocco's arms. I felt safe, happy.
The rest of the night was filled with Rocco and I laughing and watching whatever movies we could think of. We asked each other random questions out of pure curiosity. t felt like the first real night we've ever had together.
We had fallen asleep downstairs on the couch and when I woke up was in Rocco's arms and the tv had Netflix on it. Instead of waking Rocco up I laid there and just looked at him. Rocco's usually scrunched face seemed relax. He looked so peaceful something he had not been in a while.
I continued to stare until a small smiled appeared on Rocco's face whilst his eyes stayed closed. "Didn't anyone teach you that staring is rude." I scoffed and threw his arms off me picking up my phone.
"Don't act like you didn't enjoy every second of that." I began to walk towards the kitchen as Rocco stretched on the couch then proceeded to follow me. He watched as I pulled out a cooking pan and eggs, tomatoes, butter, bread, milk, spinach, and cheese.
Rocco didn't say anything as I made eggs and toast. While they were cooking I began to make the toast and heat up the dish. He made his way to sit at the island and continued to watch me with a careful eye.
Once the eggs were done I put the buttered toast and eggs on the heated up dish and placed it in front of Rocco. He pushed it towards me.
"You eat first amore." I shook my head and pushed the plate back towards him.
"I don't like spinach or tomatoes in my eggs but you do though." One of Rocco's eyebrows cocked at me surprised that I knew that about him. "I know more than you think Mr. Dioli." I began to walk away but Rocco caught my wrist.
"Grazie amore." I didn't reply, I smiled at Rocco than left the kitchen to go to our room. Though my life was in danger I still had a lot to handle. Outside my father's business, I had my own. A little insurance policy.
I got ready, showered, put on makeup, and got dressed and by the time I was done Rocco walked into the room most likely having to get ready for work as well. When he saw that I was dressed ready to head out the door his expression turned from one of content to one of irritation.
"I thought we talked about this." I sighed heavily walking over to Rocco and lightly placing my hands on his t-shirt clad chest. I leaned down slightly so my forehead rested comfortably on Rocco's chest.
"I still have to go to work. I cannot let this affect my entire life. I need to be able to do some things without being restricted because of this bounty." I lifted my head to see Rocco's facial expression and saw his eyes closed tightly and his jaw tightly clenched. "I physically can't stay here all-day worrying when somebody might just come and try to take my life. I'll go clinically crazy."
"I'll come with you then." My eyes practically rolled to the back of my head knowing how badly Rocco coming with me to work would go. Its the perfect recipe for disaster.
"Fine, but hurry and get ready we're already late."
