The Adopted One (Dolan Twins)

"Cat got your tongue?"

Cameron was right everyone was waiting for us. Apparently it doesn't take that long to buy snacks and drinks. We walked up to the van where everyone had waited patiently.
"Finally" Grayson said dragging out every letter in an annoyed tone. I guess not everyone waited patiently. I rolled my eyes and followed Ethan into the back of the van where I was seated before. I was followed by Grayson who plopped down into his seat with a 'hmmph'. I laughed at his actions to myself.
"Why so grumpy" I asked Grayson who had his head against the window.
I felt Ethan tap my shoulder. I jumped at his touch but turned to face him.
"They didn't have the chips he wanted in there" Ethan whispered through a laugh trying hard to not be heard by Grayson.
"Seriously" I mouthed. Ethan nodded with a wide smile on his face. I decided to take this as an opportunity to tease Grayson.
"Awwh I'm sowwy they didn't have the food you wanted." I said to Grayson in my best baby voice that I could muster up. Grayson gave me a humorless laugh and rolled his eyes.
"No I weally am. I can't bewieve you didn't get what you wanted Gray" I continued trying not to laugh but I had failed big time at that. Ethan didn't even try to contain his laughter and soon enough I could hear small chuckles escape Graysons mouth.
"Fine don't talk to me you big baby" I said to Grayson in between laughs.
"Oh shut up" Grayson said in a pouting voice.
"Now Grayson is that anyway to treat you sister" Ethan said to Grayson in a stern voice. I nudged Grayson and stuck my tongue out at him when he turned to me. You could tell he was trying not to laugh but that didn't last long. I made a silly face and both Grayson and Ethan were bubbling with laughter.
"What are you three doing back there" Lisa asked with a smile.
"Being stupid" Cameron said with both annoyance and laughter present in her voice.
Grayson, Ethan, and I all let out laughs, chuckles, and giggles. After all the laugher and jokes faded I decided to grab my bag that was by my seat. The bag was filled with things I thought I might want on the trip like a blanket, Ear buds, a battery pack for my phone,ect... I searched my bag for  my ear and finnaly found them. I plugged then into my phone and started listening to Pandora radio. I would've listened to the music that I've bought but I didn't feel like it. I looked through my stations on Pandora and decided on a country station. It's not my go to music but I wanted something different today. I put my phone face up on my lap and put my head back. I closed my eyes but had no intention of going to sleep. The first song that played was one that I actually liked. It was called Lonely eyes and it was sung by an artist named Chris Young. I eventually found myself humming the words to myself when I felt a nudge against my ribs. I let out a yelp and turned to a smirking twin. I gave Ethan a long cold glare and opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out so I closed my mouth.
"Cat got your tongue" Ethan teased.
"What was that for" I whined
"Well a weird noise was coming from your mouth and it hurt my ears a little" Ethan joked.
"Ha ha gee thanks," I said sarcastically and put my head back again.
"I'll try not to hurt your ears this time" I continued.
By now the song was over and I was a little mad at Ethan because I liked that song but I continued listening to my music. I tried hard not to hum again because I didn't want to get teased again. I know Ethan was only joking but I liked singing and thought I had an okay voice.
The next song that played was My wish and it was going to be hard for me to not hum to. I considered skipping the song but I liked it to much.
The song ended and I successfully made it threw the entire song without humming. A few songs later and I was drifting in and out of sleep.
Lisa and Sean rolled down their windows because Cameron said it was hot. Well for me it wasn't hot it was cold and this made me even more cold. I was wearing shorts which made it worse.
I guess I started shaking because Ethan and Grayson both scooted towards me. I flinched when Ethan put his arm around me but I let him leave it there because I  was so cold. Even with the twins so close I was still shivering so I grabbed the blanket I brought out of my bag and layed it on my legs. Now that was better.

"Well you came prepared" Grayson said to me.
"Yea good thing to because I'm cold too" Ethan said putting the blanket over his legs. I pulled at the blanket but Ethan wouldn't let go.
"Oh fine" I groaned
"How are you guys cold it's hot" Grayson said. He sounded somewhat confused.
"Who's cold" Cameron chimed in.
"Ethan and Lena"
"How"
I rolled my eyes at their conversation.
I moved closer to Ethan and put my head on his shoulder. Ethan held me tighter I'm his arms and Grayson moved closer to me. This was my second Dolan sandwich and so far I love them.

They are so loving to me already. They already make me laugh more then I have in a long time. None of the other families I've been with ever treated me like this right away. I didn't feel a connection right away. I was never as happy with my other families like I am now and it's been a day. I would have never thought that I'd like a family the way I like these people. With time I think I'll even grow to love them. After the accident I spent years building a wall so I wouldn't get hurt again, so I wouldn't be in so much pain again, and with the walls I wouldn't allow myself to get attached to someone again. But these twins. The twins are making my walls crumble down. They're breaking the rules. I already know I won't have enough time to build the walls back up so what's the point in trying. Maybe I don't even want to build the walls again. Let them fall. I want them to fall. I want to get attached to them and feel loved again. Heck if they need it I'll help them break the walls down.

I hope you liked the chapter. It's a little short compared to my other ones. But I'm having a hard time functioning 😂. I'm sticking to my update schedule so far so hopefully I'll keep up the good work.
