The Adopted One (Dolan Twins)

"Did I do something wrong?"

Lenas P.O.V:
Me, Ethan, and Grayson made our way down stairs. I gave Betty a sad hug not wanting to let go but I forced my self to pull away.
"Bye sweetie" Betty said in a mumble barley audible
"Bye Betty. Thank you. For everything" I said trying to stay cheerful for her.
"I'll miss you" I continued but I couldn't stop my voice from shaking.
Betty wiped my cheek with her thumb. I hadn't even realized I'd been crying. So much for trying to stay cheerful.
"Oh honey I'll come in visit you when I have enough money for the gas." Betty whispered reassuringly. That last part confused me but now I know I'll see her again at least.
"I'm sorry" I whispered
"For what" Betty asked
"I was so mean to you when all you ever tried to do was make me happy. I didn't appreciate what you did for me and now I'm loosing you. Betty I'm so sorry"
"Don't be Lena, you were having a hard time and I knew you were secretly thankful. I've come to love you Lena and I don't want you to be sorry."
I looked at Betty with sad eyes
"You love me" I asked
"Of course I do" Betty pulled me into her and gave me a big hug.
"Group hug" the boys shouted.
I had forgotten they were even there for a moment. In just one short second I was being held by arms all around me.

They really will love me. This will be my safe spot now. Here with them. Forever and always.

After a long hug all the arms fell and I was no longer in the embrace of those around me. Unknowingly a smile spread across my face. I looked at Ethan who was smiling at me.
"What are you smiling at" we both asked. Ethan chuckled and I let out a giggle.
"This" we both said at the same time again. We looked at eachother.
"Stop that" we said. Ethan had a dopey look on his face. It was priceless. I couldn't contain my laughter. Ethan started laughing along with me.
I couldn't help but feel like there were eyes on me. Watching me. I looked around to see Grayson, Cameron, Sean, Lisa, and Betty watching both me and Ethan. Our laughter faded as the stare's continued.
"Did I do something wrong" I asked worriedly.
"No no no of course not. It's just good to see you adjusting well already" Lisa said with a smile.
A small smile crept across me face
"Its hard to be unhappy around these two" I said nudging Ethan in the stomach.
"The three of them are going to cause so much trouble aren't they" Cameron asked through a laugh.
"Yes"Grayson said laughing.
"No way were angels" Ethan said trying to be all innocent and confused.
"Well maybe sometimes but not all the time" I said knowing it was true.
Everyone around me started laughing and I joined in. The laughing faded away and Betty said "You guys should leave soon it's a long drive"
"Long drive"I asked. Now what Betty said earlier made since.
"Yea we live in California. Its a very long drive but we made a road trip out of it." Lisa said
"But we live in New Jersey. We have to drive straight through the whole country."

"It was fun the first time Lena. It will be even more fun with you." Grayson said enthusiastically.

"How'd you even find out about me? Why'd you pick me when you could've adopted someone from California?" I asked very confused

"We know Betty very well. She has told us about you for a while and we were interested from the start. Plus New Jersey is where Cam and the boys grew up." Sean said.

"Okay.. So we're making this a road trip as well?" I asked a little less confused.

"Yea it's going to be great!" Ethan said excitedly.

"We will have so much fun" Grayson said.
I looked at Betty with sad eyes. It's was time to leave her and I knew it.
"Love you Lena" Betty mouthed to me. I nodded my head as tears started to fall from my eyes, make a journey down my cheeks and, stop at my lips.
"I'll miss you Betty" I said with a sad smile.
"I'll miss you too. Have fun" she said. With that everyone walked out the door and into fresh air. I was the last one out of the door. I turned around and gave Betty one last hug. I pulled away and caught up with my new family. Sean opened the trunk and grabbed my things from me. He placed all me bags and suitcases into the back.
"Thanks" I whispered.
Sean gave me a smile. I walked to the car doors but someone stopped me by grabbing my wrists. I turned around to see not one but two someones looking at me.
"Are you okay" Grayson asked quietly.
"Yea I'm good I just don't want to talk just yet" I said trying hard not to let my voice crack.
"You're still crying" Ethan whispered wiping at my tears.
I was silent. Grayson opened the car door for me.
"After you" he gestured toward the inside of the car.
"Thank you" I said climbing into the van. "I'm okay guys." I reassured them.
"Okay" they said.
I got into the very back of the van and Ethan and Grayson followed. I sat in the middle with a twin on either side of me. Cameron sat in front of us and Lisa sat in the passenger side. Sean was the one who drove.
"Everyone buckled up" Lisa asked.
"Yea" we all said.
"Well let's get this show on the road" Sean chimed in.

My phone buzzed as we started to drive off. I took it out if my pocket and turned it on. A text message from Betty showed up on the lock screen. I clicked the screen and swiped so I was brought to my messages.

Betty❤: Miss you already

Reading the message brought the tears back to me.

Me: I miss you too ❤

After that I decided to put my phone away. I felt tired already so I layed my head on Ethans shoulder and he layed his head on my head. Grayson put his head on my shoulder. After a few minutes I fell asleep in that spot.

Sorry for such a late update. I'm going to try and update on Tuesday because 'Dolan twin Tuesday' and Saturday because why not. If i have the time I'll update more often. I hope everyone that is reading this so far is enjoying it. xx.
