"I love you."

Graysons Pov:

Oh shit did I really just say that....

"I love you too Grayson." Lena smiled at me but I don't think she got what I meant. Thank God.

"Good. Now we need to get Ethan to hurry up with that food so we can tell him about the phone." I say trying to play it as cool as possible.

"What no, no, no we cannot tell him! He will go crazy and make me tell him everything..." She says breathlessly.

"We have to tell Ethan though..." I say trying to convince her.

"Tell me what?" Ethans voice says as a door closes.

"Uhhhhh...."Lena tries her hardest to think of an excuse but nothing comes to mind.

"What do you need to tell me?" Ethan pushes.

"We just wanted to um tell you that um um um OH! Next time you go get the food be a little faster." I shake my head as the words leave my mouth.

"Oh umm okay I guess I'll try harder next time?" He says more like it's a question rather than a statement.

"Yeah, you try harder cause I'm a hungry girl!" Lena said laughing a bit.

"Well here you go... pig out." Ethan said hesitantly.
Lena hesitantly looks at the food on the tray and decides she's no longer hungry.

"What happened to the whole 'I'm starving?'" Ethan asks.
"It's just a bunch of mush. I'm not that hungry anyways." Lena says quietly. I can tell that she's lying through her teeth but I don't say anything.

Silence...
Silence...
And more silence...
The room is silent and still. No one says a word. It's awkward and I want to get out. But I stay where I stand because I can't leave Lena.

The awkward silence that we were all suffering from is broken by my mom rushing in with a smile on her face. God only knows why she's smiling. There's absolutely nothing to be happy about.

"Lena can go home tonight! And if she can go with you guys on the first day back to school," mom says but then she pauses and looks directly at Lena, "That is if you're feeling up to it I mean."

"I should be fine. I'm feeling much better already"
Lie
"In fact I could run a marathon right now!"
Another lie. I'm learning that Lena does this thing where she lies to make people happy.

"I'm so glad. Oh gosh I need to go to the school and get your schedule!" Mom says cheerfully. I think she knows deep down that Lena feels like absolute hell but she chooses to ignore it. It's probably for her own good that she make herself believe that Lena is fine.
"Oh that would be wonderful. I hope I fit in." Lena says worriedly.

"You'll fit in fine." I say knowing that it's true.

"Okay I'm going to go run around and do some errands. Cam and your dad are coming with me. Will you boys be okay to stay with Lena? We can go home as soon as we get back!"

"Yeah, we should be fine. Be safe." Ethan says.

"Okay bye guys. I love you boys. I love you Lena."
And then she's out the door.

The room goes back to silence for about a whole two minute until Lena has something to say, "What the hell! She just left. Does she not care about the situation?"

"Lena it's not like that at all. I think she just needs to tell herself that you're fine." Ethan says trying to comfort her.
"She's scared." I say.
