I've been in his car for what feels like forever with a blindfold over my eyes. I ran back to the house to change and warn my parents that I'm still alive.

Soft music plays in his car, Eden, not many people know his band and it's really good. Wake Up plays and I smile to myself because this is my jam.

This song reminds me of when Wade was having a bad dream, I should ask him about it, but I'm afraid of one of his mood swings.

"Are we almost there?" I ask for the fourth time on this trip. I begged to have the windows open, but he would let me, he said it'd give away the destination. I wanted to breathe in the nice spring air. But noooo. I think I'm being mean to him today. "Sorry Wade." I say, his light chuckle fills my ears other than the radio.

"It's fine, I know how it feels. Never knowing where you are going." He says and for some reason it hits me hard. What he said just meant a lot more than he's giving off.

"What do you mean by that?" I ask quietly. Tension fills the air and I know that he doesn't want to talk about it. He clears his throat.

"I had a rough childhood before I moved to Boston. I never knew what was going to happen, every thing was scary and no kid should live through that. The things I saw.." he trails off, Im assuming that he is thinking of those things. My hand finds his.

"We've all got issues, I'm scared of the water." I say, he curses and stops the car. "What?"

"Two things, but we just got pulled over." He says and I laugh.

"Do you have your seat belt on?" I ask.

"Yes, you made me put it on." He laughs as someone taps on the window.

"Hey, you haven't been speeding or anything, but we couldn't help, but notice a girl with a blindfold on. We are just taking precautions. We need to speak to her for a minuet." he says and I pull my blindfold off, I smile at Wade and step out of the car.

My eyes fall on the buff officer, he's good looking, but his muscles are too big for my liking. I look back to the car to Wade who is watching me.

"Hi officer," I say with a smile. He gives me a warm smile.

"Hi, we just need to make sure that you are safe and that he isn't a threat, kidnapping, ya know?" He ask and I shake my head.

"No, we are going on a date. Well I don't know where we are going because it's a surprise, but no, I don't think he'll do anything bad." I say and the officer nods his head.

"Just remember, if he does something he's not supposed to you call 911. Teenage boys are testy when it comes to girls." He mutters the last part and I get back in the car. "You guys are good to go." The officer says after glancing at Wade.

"You're not going to kill me right?" I ask and he shakes his head. I kiss his cheek and sit back in my seat.

He takes my hands into his and gives me apologetic eyes. "I'm sorry. I was going to take you to the lake." He says and I still. I want to get angry, but he doesn't know why I'm scared. I bite my lip and look away.

"Maybe we can go hiking," I whisper and he nods his head. He pulls back on the road, uncomfortable silence filling the air. Tears start to collect in my eyes thinking of Paul. I don't want to cry, but now that we are so close to a lake I can't help it. "Will you tell me why you're scared of water?" He asks his hand in mine giving it a soft squeeze.

"Paul," I start out. "He died drowning in water when we were young. It was before high school so you probably don't know him. He was my best friend, my parents could have sworn he was my twin. We knew what each other were thinking and what we wanted. It's was a family get together, our families, we went to the lake and he drowned. He knew how to swim, but he couldn't get above the water." Tears rush out of my eyes. "And now when I think of Paul I see his cold dead body. They could bring him back. They tried so hard, they called the ambulance, but they didn't get there in time to save him. We knew he was gone before they got there, my dad couldn't bring him back. He'd taken a hit to the head jumping in and went under. We were all doing our own thing and I noticed he wasn't playing next to me. We went looking until we found him. That was the worst day in my life." I whisper the last part.
