Chapter Thirty-Eight

Wade POV of Chapter Thirty-Seven

I wrap Rhys's small, but strong, fists as I smile at her. "Your big day is finally here. Are you ready?" I ask her. I'm happy for her, I am, but I don't want her to do this because it won't make her happy in the end.

"As much as I'll ever be." She says as she leans into me. Wade, just know; what ever happens tonight," she pauses a minuet with a slight strain on her face before continuing. "just know that I love you and that I'm sorry." She says laying her head on my chest. Why would she be sorry? She's been wanting this for so long.

"Sorry for what?" I ask as I sway her, attempting to calm down her shaken nerves. All I ever wanted to be was perfect for Rhys, I want to help her, but I never was. Maybe she can see through my flaws and still love me.

"Everything I ever did wrong, for tonight, for your future, your feelings." She says sadly. This concerns me. Why is she saying these things? My feelings? They are happy with Rhys. My future is with her so I will be happy. Sure we may have ups and downs, but I would spin all the way around for Rhys. Which reminds me, I need to give you this." She says reaching into her pocket pulling out a silver chain with her engagement ring on this. I start to panic. Is this why she said she was sorry?

Why would you give this to me? It's yours." I ask as she puts it around my neck.

"I can't fight with it on." She shrugs and I nod my head in agreement. "I love you Wade." She says pressing her lips against mine. But this kiss feed sad, more passionate. It makes me think something is wrong, that I am missing something.

Interrupting us; Noah and Max burst through the door. I press a soft kiss against Rhys's lips. "I love you. Guess I should go and get a good spot. Good luck! I love you forever and always."

"I love you forever and always! Goodbye, Wade." She says as I open the door to go and get a place in the crowd. I know that I will be doing this soon for my fight. But for me it is a whole different reason.

"See you after the fight." I say before leaving and going into the crowds.

I find my place next to Shay and her friends. I glance over at Carlos who doesn't seem that happy. He was crying the other day and it made me sad because he is a good friend.

My mind goes back to Rhys because her song comes on and that means she will be coming down the aisle. I turn my head and see her smiling and smacking hands with fans. Guys eye her much exposed body, she has such a beautiful body. But she's also beautiful on the inside. I love her so much.

She comes right up to me and smashes her lips on mine in another passionate kiss. "I love you." She reminds me before she goes to the ring to face her snaring opponent Carly.

She throws her sunglasses out before facing Carly and bumping fist. She says something to Carly before they start fighting. What could she possibly saying at this time? Maybe she is apologizing to Carly for the beating she is about to get. Gosh, what is not to love about her.

The fight starts and I cheer Rhys on like everyone else. Carly slams her fist into Rhys's face. Why isn't she blocking? She should be fighting back but she doesn't.

Carly hits the love of my life again before quickly kicking her and sending her to her knees. Carly raises her foot and slams it right into Rhys who falls to the ground from the impact.

Rhys turned her head ever so slowly to looking into my eyes. Blood coats her face as she stares into my eyes. I feel myself go stiff because I just realized what she is doing.

Why did it take so long? I should have know. All the goodbyes, her sadness. What is wrong with me? I could have saved her!

Carly sent more blows to her body as I watched sadly knowing that the love of my life is dying in front of me. The crowd roared with boos, but what was louder was my heart breaking. Everything I have done to love again and it gets taken away. I'm incapable of loving.

Carly takes her precious head and slams it against the floor sending a loud crack through the now quiet room. Her eyes blink rapidly as tears and blood blur her vision just as Carlos hands me a paper that I put in my pocket.

My mind goes crazy now. I have to save her. I run through the crowd shouting for them to stop Carly. Rhys! Fight back! Baby don't do this to me." I shout as I try getting in the ring to save her but they keep me back. Even Jamie looks sad and he runs this thing.

Carly rears her arm back and slams the last punch into Rhys's face. They pull Carly off of Rhys and I get myself in the ring fighting monstrous sized men off of me.

I cradle Rhys to me as I pet her hair. Jamie calls for an ambulance thankfully as I spend her last seconds telling her how much I love her.

"I love you Rhys, I don't want to loose you. I can't." I say hunched over her small body as tears steam down my face. "I love you Rhys," I say kissing her lifeless body. "I love you. You can be sleeping beauty and I'll be your prince." I kiss her again. "You're supposed to wake up now." I say frustrated. "Rhys wake up." I say shaking her lightly. "I love you Rhys, don't leave me."

Then she let out a little breath, maybe I'm delusional currently but that little lift of her chest is what I cling to as they take her away leaving me covered in her blood.

I was nice and let you have this chapter in Wade's POV because of an awesome reader. You know who you are.
So next chapter is the last, I swear this time, before book two comes out. I will have information about it as soon as possible!
