Dipper ran around the shack frantically searching for the book. He was unaware of Mabel's plans. He wished he could ask for help, but he had to keep this book a secret.

He searched all over their bedroom, under every couch, every rug, on every shelf, but found nothing. Dipper knew there was no way he could have replaced it. It meant a lot to him and if anyone else would find it, chaos would break loose.

In a panic, he bumped into Soos whilst running down the stairs.

"Oh! Haha! Sorry dude." said Soos, who picked Dipper off the ground.

"It's my bad. Sorry." Dipper said as he stood up, eyes scanning the room for the book.

"You okay dude? You look a bit shaken."

"Me? Nah, I'm totally fine." Dipper said rather quickly.

Soos cocked an eyebrow. "What's wrong?"

Dipper sighed. "Nothing. It's just, I, umm, well I lost my favorite book. I checked everywhere but I can't find it. And I just gotta find out how it ends ya know?" Dipper explained, sort of.

"I get'cha dude. If I find a book layin around I'll let you know pterodactyl bro."

"Thank's Soos." and the boys parted ways.

Dipper headed into the empty living room and paced back and fourth, thinking aloud, "Where could it be? I've searched this entire house and there's not a sign of it! The last place I remember having it was on the table in our room when I said good night to-" Dipper gasped, "Mabel! Of course!"

Dipper grabbed a spare umbrella and ran out of the shack and into town, looking for his sister. Surprisingly, Mable was coming up to the shack when he saw her. He ran up to her.

"Hey Dipping sauce! What's the matter?"

In a harsh whisper, Dipper said, "Mabel! Where have you been?! Did you take the journal?!"

"Well..."

"I knew it! Ugh! Do you know how unsafe it is to be carrying that around?! What were you doing with it anyway?"

"First of all, you're not the only one who get's to read this okay? Secondly, I was doing something for you."

"What?"

Mabel paused before answering, "I know how to get you a girlfriend."

Dipper glared and pointed sternly, "I told you no!"

"What do you mean no?! It's a done deal! We just have to go back to Madam Margie's place tomorrow and-"

"Who?! Madam Margie? Who is that?!"

"She's a... witch..."

Dipper took a big sigh. "Mabel. Don't ever go to witches! The book even said to use them only as a last resort. Did you even read it?"

"Well duh!" Mabel took out the book and turned to the maps and showed Dipper. "How else do you think I could've found her?"

"Was she dangerous? Did she hurt you?"

"No. I'm absolutely fine. She was really nice actually. I don't see any reason not to trust her."

"How about the fact that she's a witch!"

"Dipper, you gotta believe me; this is for your own good. You'll find a girlfriend and you'll be happy! I just wanted to make you happy." Mabel made a sad face as she handed the book back to Dipper, who tucked it away in his vest.

"Well, if you believe it's okay, then I guess I have no other choice but to trust you." Dipper placed a hand on Mabel's shoulder. "And besides, you did defeat all those gnomes."

"You bet I did." Mabel said with a smile.

The twins headed back into the shack. Both cold from the rain, they sat under a big blanket and watched some episodes of Tiger Fist. They both smiled as they watched the show, but in their guts, they each felt anxious for tomorrow, almost like something was missing from this equation...

but what?...
