Thistlestar slept peacefully, Coralflower pressed against him as Lionkit squirmed slightly. Thistlestar had decided they should stay and extra night to rest, and he was right.

The extra night let everyone catch up and rest from the long journey, anf Fireheart got to see his sister once more, but something still wasn't right. He kept smelling someyhing.... smokey. He opened his eyes, unable to sleep anymore. He hears the crack and pop outside the barn, and smokey smell came back.

He stepped outside, yawning with a curled tail.

His yawn turned to a gape as his eyes widened in horror. The whole forest was in flames. They soared high in the sky, clouds of smoke covering every inch of land. He spun around and marched right back into the barn.

Barley sat awake, grooming his pelt while the others slept. He counted the cats sleeping, determined to keep them all safe.

Hawkpaw, Windpaw, Coralflower, Lionkit, Graystripe, Fireheart, Riley, Ravenpaw, Brightheart... Wait. He looked around, turning to Barley.

"Wheres my mother? And Bella?" He meowed, "Are they in here? Theres a fire outside!" He mewed frantically.

Barley's eyes widened, "They went to find the old Thunderclan camp!" He hissed. The fire was beaming the highest over there! With a yowl, he woke the clan racing outside.

Several sets of paws followed him out, and he recognized Windpaw, Ravenpaw, and Brightheart.

"They couldnt have gone far. Moment they saw any flames they probably came back and found somewhere to take shelter. The fire won't reach up here." Ravenpaw meowed, sitting with his tail flicking anxiously.

"I'm going after them." Thistlestar decided suddenly, padding down hill towards the heat and baffling amount of smoke. "They could be trapped, and i couldn't live with myself if they were and we didnt help."

Windpaw followed, Brightheart behind them. He pushed harder, sniffing. He hoped to find their scent trail before it was too late. He froze, hearing a faint cry. He perked his ears, hearing it louder towards the river.

Bordered with Thunderclan territory.

He pushed ahead, leaving iver burning branches, listening for his clanmates pawsteps to make sure they were keeping up. He had to help who ever was calling, whether his kin or not.

As the flames drew higher and the cries grew louder, he knew they were coming close. He slowed down to look for them, padding in all sorts of directions. He heard the cry again, but it was distant, and farther back. They had past them.

"We went too far. Go back!" He yowled, racing back the way they came. Goldenflower and Bella must have found a way towards the barn.

"Why are we running in circles, Thistlestar?" Windpaw panted, her white fur turned a grey. He gave her a hard look before realizing they had passed the river. Up ahead were three cats.

He couldnt see them properly, but he could tell they were perched by the barn. It was too far to see their facail expressions, but he knew they were safe. A cry sounded loud, as if someone were trapped in the bushes beside him.

"Im coming mother!" He yowled, bursting through the bushes. At once the bush lit on fire, leaving his path back impossible. He found a small, narrow path to leave, but the trees were crashing around him. He was stuck in a ring if fire with the last few trees. He couldnt see anymore, the smoke was so thick it could be carved with a claw. It filled his mouth and nose, his lungs tightening as he tried to breath.

His view came in blurred, smokey screens, and he saw greyish white fur flash and his pelt gripped tight. He felt his back scraping against stones and springy grass rubbing against his spine. He opened his eyes again, his vision clearer but they still watered from the ash in his eyes. He saw a ginger and white she-cat standing over him.
