I stood there wide eyed for a few minutes, I was frozen to my spot. Is this a sign that God hates me? Did I do something to ruin my life? I was snapped out of my thoughts when she cleared her throat.

"Uh, my mom baked this pie, to show our friendliness I guess." I shook my head and gave a lopsided smile. I took the pie and was about to close the door, but that would be rude right?

"T-tell your mom thanks, and I'm Jax by the way." I held out my hand so the conversation could end on an okay note and me not looking like an asshole.

"Willow." She shook my hand. Her hand was much smaller in mine, but it felt nice. I nodded, she said something but I wasn't sure, I was too distracted thinking about her hands. Yes, definitely crazy. I snapped out of my thoughts and saw Willow walking away waving. I gave a small wave back and finally closed the door. I walked to the kitchen with the pie, whilst setting it down my mom was giving me weird looks. She was finally home from her trip which I WAS happy about.

"Who was that?" She said with a huge grin. Not going to happen mom, nobody has liked me sense 1st grade.

"Uh new neighbors, daughters' name is Willow." It felt nice actually having a name to give her. It was pretty, It suited her.

"Maybe, you could try to make some friends, eh? I want you to have a happy, fulfilling life experience." I had to roll my eyes a little. My life couldn't possibly be fulfilling or happy.

"Yeah okay mom, I can try." I knew that was giving my mom false hope, but I couldn't stand the hurt I put my mom through, she knew I was struggling. So even if this hope is fake, at least I got to see her smile.
