I picked up my plastic fork and dug it into the small piece of chocolate cake.
"So, what are the plans for today?" I asked Aimee. She giggled and looked at Jay.
"Well, we are going bowling and getting pizza later." Pizza. Wow. I can't remember the last time I ate pizza.
"Great! That sounds awesome." Jay smiled at me and took a bite out of my cake and I nudged him with my elbow.
"And then I will get to leave this place." He gestured around the hospital room. "That's great."
We finished eating our cake and talking about the day. Jay packed all of his stuff and I felt so happy for him.
"Do you feel alright?" I asked him as he tore off the hospital gown. I stared at him in his boxers. He had the start of some abs and his biceps were almost bulging. I smiled at him and he quickly threw on his shirt.
"I'm fine but your staring was starting to scare me Mar." I got up and put my purse on my shoulder while he went to the bathroom to change.
"Hey Aims?" She looked up from her Seventeen magazine.
"Yeah?" I didn't want to tell her about me maybe having to leave in 2 weeks, but maybe beating around the bush would work.
"What would you do if I had to move far away from here?" She looked at me funny.
"Um, I would stuff myself in your suitcase. Duh." I looked at her and laughed.
"Why would you say such a thing on your 17th birthday?" She got up and gave me a tight hug.
"I was just wondering." The tears started to make their way to my eyes, but I bit my tongue. Then, Jay walked out of the bathroom smelling of Axe. Aimee turned around and put her magazine in her purse.
"Are we ready then?" Jay and I nodded our heads in unison.
The afternoon consisted of laser tag at the bowling alley. We got there and I looked around the dark place.
"Wow." I mumbled. Jay handed me a jacket and laser gun as Aimee went up to pay.
"Are you ready to get laser shot by me?" he strapped the Velcro over.
"it's more like are you ready to get laser shot by me." I poked him in the stomach. Then, Aimee walked up.
"Okay. Let's get the show on the road." She stated.
We played laser tag for about an hour then went bowling. Jay beat Aimee and I by a long shot. Of course. We went out to Pizza Hut afterwards and sat there for what seemed like hours, but was only an hour. We went back to the hospital so Aimee could get her car.
"I had a lot of fun guys. Thank you." I hugged both of them. Aimee waved and got into her car. Then, it was Jay and I.
"Thanks Jay." He smiled and leaned down to kiss me.
"I know that you are leaving in 2 weeks, but I'm going to make them the best 2 weeks that you have ever had." He held my face with his hands. I grinned at him and got into my car. I told him that I would talk to him tomorrow and we both went off on our own ways.
I got inside and found it to be completely dark in my house. It gave me chills. I turned the living room light on and went to my bedroom to get changed. I looked healthier and much better than I had looked a few days ago. I threw on pajamas and went down stairs to turn the TV on. I turned it to a movie channel showing Matilda. I loved that movie and sort of still do. I even got up to make myself a buttery bag of Pop Secret popcorn. Yum. Today was one of the best days I have had in a while. Maybe even the best day ever. Maybe. Just maybe.
