Kary drove to where the bonfire was at. It wasn't very far, so if she did get drunk I probably could drive back. The beach house was packed of people and golf carts, cars, and bikes were parked all around the front of the house. We heard music coming from the back of the house and tiki lights were lit along the path way to the beach.
"Here we are." Kary got out of the golf cart and here tall heels started clicking in the road. We both walked up to the house and saw people inside and outside in the back.
"Okay, so this is my friend Jonah's house. He's kind of rich and he throws parties a lot when his parents go away. He's a nice guy though." She reached in her bra and pulled out a metal key.
"What's that?" I straightened my dress out in the back.
"This is the key to the house and all rooms inside." She smiled smugly like it was her best achievement getting the key. She unlocked the front door and went inside. A few party goers had gotten in here and were making out all over the living room. She opened a huge fridge and got out two ice cold beers.
"Here you are!" I took the beer and it chilled my fingers.
"I haven't had a beer since sophomore year." I looked at the Blue Moon logo on the beer. Kary took a huge swig of hers and grabbed my arm and pulled me outside. There were lots of teens around drinking, grinding, and making out. A boy with floppy brown hair and khaki shorts and a white tee on walked toward us.
"Hey, Kary. Who's this?" The guy smelled like beer and he noticeably checked me out.
"This is Marley. Marley, this is Jonah." Jonah grinned showing his perfect smile. Kill me now. I fake smiled and shook his hand.
Kary introduced me to over half of the people at the party.
"So all of those people I introduced you to, I'm friends with. The people I didn't introduce you to are the ones who you should stay away from. I'm not friends with them." She took another long swig of her beer.
"How's my Care Bear?" A blond muscular dude walked over to us and he lifted Kary up and spun. She laughed and kissed him. He put her down and she stumbled a little.
"Connor. this is my gorgeous cousin, Marley." She put her arm around me and I got a whiff of flower smelling deodorant. Connor smiled at me and took Kary's hand and off they went. I stood there awkwardly sipping my beer and waiting until she finally came back.
"Boo." A good looking dark haired guy came up from behind me and I let out a little gasp.
"Hi." I straightened my hair. The dark haired guy held a red solo cup in his big muscular hands. He looked a lot like Logan Lerman. Hottie.
Shut up! You have a boyfriend.
"Hi there. I sense that you haven't been to a lot of these." He backed up a little and sat in a wooden chair right by a tiki light. He glanced over at the other one. I sat down and looked at a little candle on the table between us.
"What's your name?" He finally broke the silence.
"I'm Marley. You are?" I tried to sound completely confident in myself, but that wasn't exactly the case.
"Carter." He was staring at me. That's creepy.
"Why are you staring at me?' I tucked my hair behind my ears and my cheeks turned pink.
"Sorry, It's a habit of mine." He turned a little red and I felt kind of bad.
The night went by and before I knew it, I had downed three beers and was telling Carter everything about me. He listened to everything I had to say and had long ran out of whatever was in his cup. I felt tingly and saw sparkles. It was like I was free and could do whatever. I felt stronger and powerful. I basically told Carter my life story, then we went out by the big bonfire in the sand and danced together. I had ditched my heels after my second beer. I grabbed another beer from a cool and drank all of it.
That's when everything went black.
