the next morning I woke up with the sun shining into my bedroom windows. I got up and threw on pink pajama pants. I'm actually seventeen years old. Wow. My parents would be so happy. I walked over to my dresser and opened a drawer full of stuff that reminded my of my parents. There were 2 pictures with them standing next to each other facing the camera. It was taken when I was 8 years old. We were in New York City and it was just beginning to snow. It was a beautiful picture of my parents. The light made my mother's blue eyes sparkle. She wore a long white coat with white gloves. I told her she looked like a princess. My father wore a brown coat and brown gloves. His brown eyes stood out along with his pearly whites. The next picture was at my moms friend's wedding. My mom wore a sleek red dress and bright red lipstick. My father wore a black suit with a while shirt underneath. I stood in the middle surrounded by my mom and dad. I wore a pink head band with a dark pink flower on it. and a dark pink goofy dress. I smiled showing my teeth. I was missing one in the front though.

I smiled looking at my family. I looked in the drawer again and saw a cranberry colored scarf which was my moms. She let me borrow it two days before the accident and I never gave it back. I picked up the scarf and put it up to my nose. I smelled laundry detergent, roses, and vanilla. Just like my mom. I buried my face in it pretending that I was hugging my mom. Sadly, I would never do that again.

I put the pictures and scarf back shutting my drawer with a thump. I walked out of my room and down the stairs to the kitchen. I made myself toast and got some yogurt out of the fridge.

I finished eating and threw on shorts and an Aeropostale shirt. I put my hair up and slipped white flip flops on. I ran out the door to Jay's house. I knocked on his door to find his mom answer it with her yellow and pink striped apron on her waist. "Hi dear."

"Hi. Is Jay here?" I twisted my hair in between my fingers.

"Yes. He's upstairs." She smiled, but it was more of a grimace.

"Can I go...up there?" I gestured to the stairs.

"Why yes." I hurried up the stairs careful not to run into Jay's dad.

"I knocked on his door twice and heard him say come in. I walked in to see him in jeans and a blue shirt. "Hey!"

"Hey." He grabbed the sheets on his bed attempting to make his bed.

"I was thinking we could go shopping today." He smirked at me. "But you hate shopping." I flopped down on his bed.

"Well yeah, but you love it so I love it." I bursted out laughing.

"Whatever Jay. You're just too sweet." I grabbed his hand.

"I know." He kissed my cheek and told me that we should go downstairs. I nodded , but inside I would rather just stay in his room. We walked down the creaky wooden stairs and I smelled the aroma of fresh french toast.

"Yum." I shut my eyes and breathed in the wonderful smell. Jay laughed at me and greeted his mom.

"Have you already eaten Marley?" Jay's mom asked.

"Barely." I looked at Jay and winked. He rolled his eyes laughing. About 20 minutes later, Jay, Jay's mom, and I all sat down. I wondered where his dad was. I cut the syrup covered french toast and tried it. It tasted so amazing. It was warm and seemed to melt in my mouth.

"Thank you." I said for my second breakfast.

She nodded. "Of course."

Jay gestured to the front porch and we went out there. We both sat on an old white swing that the paint was chipping off of.

"I really don't want you to leave, Mar." I knew that was coming, but I still felt a ping in my chest.

"I'll miss you." I would miss him so much.

"I'm going to miss you too." I touched his arm.

"So you want to go shopping?" He asked. "I would love too, but I'm going to go home for about an hour." He looked confused. "Why?"

"I want to take a nap so I can be fully rested for shopping!" I pumped my fist into the air. He grinned at me.

"Okay. See you later." He kissed me.

I walked home with a smile on my face the whole time. It was just so perfect. The perfectly blue sky, the dark green grass, the beautiful cherry blossom trees in full bloom.

I walked upstairs and striped into only my bra and underwear. I crawled into my bed feeling so relaxed. I fell right to sleep.

I woke up and glanced at my clock it was 12:44 in the afternoon. Perfect. I hopped up and threw on my clothes. I fixed my makeup, hair, and made sure I had enough money in my wallet. I had $110. Wow.

I ran downstairs humming to myself. Who am I? Snow White. I shook my head. I picked up my phone to see a text message from Jay.

Ready to go shopping my queen? ;)

He had texted me about 10 minutes ago. I responded that I was ready. He came quick in his car and honked the horn at me. I fumbled for my purse and scurried out the door sure to lock it. I opened the passenger side door and moved 2 textbooks from school that were in my seat. "Oops sorry." He patted the seat. "You're fine." I smoothed my hair and shut my door. "So you're ready for some shopping?" He asked. "I'm always ready for shopping, Jay. You should know that by now." He laughed.

We finally reached the mall and walked into the main entrance. "I love the mall." I walked in the mall smelling pretzels and new clothes. I looked at my feet and the sparkly, gold, mall floor. Then, I looked at the brilliant white mall light that always made my complexion look good in the dressing rooms.

We shopped for 3 hours and I could tell Jay was worn out. "Are you done?" We left Hollister and were back by the entrance. I sighed. "I think so."

The time was 3:46 PM and Jay looked like he had stayed up for a whole night after our day of shopping. It was so sweet that he did this for me.

He dropped me off at my house and we said our goodbyes. I unlocked the door and found the house to be completely dark. I still was not used to that. I took a long shower and put pajamas on. It was dinner time and I didn't know what to have. I settled for chicken noodle soup.

I did so much for the next few hours. Typical teenage stuff. I went on Facebook, watched movies, read a magazine, and ate.

It finally got to 10:00 at night and I was getting tired, but the phone rang. Huh. That's weird. I reached over on the end table and grabbed the phone. "Hello."

"Marley, It's you." The lady kept repeating my name. "Yeah. Who's this?"

"It's your Aunt Jade. I live in Florida and heard you're going to be adopted and going to move to South Carolina....and I was wondering if you just wanted to live with me."
