School actually starts in two days. Believe it or not, I'm nervous as hell.
"So, my favorite store would have to be Forever 21." Kary and I slowly walked around the mall stopping to look at adorable outfits in store windows. We both held smoothies in our hands and she talked about the mall.
"What's yours?" She stopped and walked into Abercrombie with her hands out like she saw the cutest top ever. She looked like a two-year old seeing candy.
"Um I don't know." She held up a blue dress with white polka dots. Sure enough, a tiny moose was in the corner of it signaling that it was Abercrombie.
"Marley." She sighed. "You have to have a favorite store." She held up the dress to me and then to her.
"Well, I don't. I don't shop a lot." I picked up a mint green scarf and looked at the price tag.
I changed the subject. "Why does their stuff cost so much?" I shook my head and tsked. I looked up and saw a snooty looking sales girl walk toward us.
"Anything I can help you with?" She wore dark jeans that looked like they would strangle your thighs and she wore a mint green Abercrombie sweater and the mint green scarf I was holding in my hands. I quickly sat it down. She obviously heard what I said.
"We're okay." She nodded and made a face like she was constipated.
We walked out of the store and decided to go school clothes shopping more tomorrow.
"I think you're really going to like school." Kary said as we exited the mall and tried not to smash our bags by the heavy doors.
"I hope." The sun beat down on us and I could already feel beads of sweat on my forehead.
"What's your schedule?" I asked Kary. He scrambled through her purse trying to find her keys.
"Um. I have French fourth period, Algebra sixth period, and biology third period. I think. I'll have to look to be sure. Whats yours?" We got into her super hot car and blasted the AC.
"Your mom looked for me. I only glanced at it, but I know I have gym first period." She laughed and patted my shoulder.
"Ew. That sucks. I have it last." We drove off and occasionally chatted during the ride back to the house.
We got into the house and sat our bags in our rooms. I sat on my bed and arranged M&M's into color groups. I did that for a lonely and depressing half hour until I heard the door bell ring. I hopped up and put the M&M's back in their bag for later. I didn't see Kary, so I guess I had to get it. I used to just run to my room if someone rang the door bell, but I was eight. I turned the knob and got a whiff of Axe and fresh flowers. There stood Carter with a bouquet of tulips. He wore a blue button up shirt and casual looking jeans.
"Hey, Marley. I feel like I haven't seen you in forever. So, how about an old fashioned film festival and dinner? My treat." I looked at him and the bouquet in his hands. How could you not love this guy?
"I would love to. What time?" I grabbed a vase from under the kitchen sink and put the sunset colored tulips in some water.
"Great! I'll be here at 6:00 tonight." I looked at the clock in the hall and it read 2:14. Good. I have a decent amount of time to get ready.
"Okay." I smiled and he came over and kissed me on the forehead.
"See you later then. I love you." He walked over to the door and put his hand on the door knob. It's now or never.
I put my hand on his shoulder and he turned around.
"I love you too." I was pretty proud of myself for finally saying it out loud.
