Time skip a few years
After Minato and Kushina died Kakashi decided to join Root and work under Danzo. He never told me why he chose that path but I decided not to prod into it... and when I heard rumors of 'cold blooded Kakashi' circled around the Anbu I figured I would wait to confront him about it. I worked under Lord Third on mainly solo missions but it was nothing I couldn't handle. I mastered the Flying Raijin technique and was almost as fast as Minato was.. I even got the nickname the Gold Spark of the Leaf. I was so proud when people started calling me that because every time I heard it I thought of how similar it was to Minato's. My relationship with Kakashi was good.. We just didn't see each other that much and when we did we were too tired to do anything other than sleep or one of us would be busy with mission reports.
I was sitting at the desk we had put in our room and listened to the rain pouring outside as I filled out my last mission report. My head snapped up when I heard the door open and I instinctively grabbed a kunai and held it in my hand tightly
"Hey Sayu you here?" I heard Kakashi's voice in the main room and I let out a little sigh
"I didn't expect you back tonight" I called as I got up and opened the bedroom door to give him a hug but before I could he turned his head away and I froze.
"What is it? Did I do something wrong? If this is about the new Icha Icha I haven't read it yet I was waiting for you.." I said worriedly because I had definitely skimmed the first few pages
"What? There's a new Icha Icha.. wait that's not the point.. Sayu I messed things up pretty bad when I chose to work under Danzo" He said lowering his gaze to his feet
"Finally" I muttered a bit more enthusiastically than I meant to
"What?" he asked bringing his eyes back to meet mine
"I have been waiting for you to talk to me about your work with Danzo.. I mean I hear rumors but I was waiting for you to talk to me instead of initiating it" I said
"What kind of rumors?" he mumbled his gaze falling back to his feet
"Cold blooded Kakashi" I said quietly and he nodded his head once but didn't say anything
"You know Kakashi.. I am a very patient person.. But these rumors are affecting me too.. People associate me with you and they ask me all the time about them and I can never really say anything because I don't have a clue whats going on with you anymore. I have wanted nothing more than to protect you from the things people say but the only rumor I even remotely understand is 'friend killer Kakashi'" I said and his head immediately snapped up to look at me but his eye showed nothing but anger
"Oh so you agree with them huh? I thought you understood me Sayuri! You probably agree that I'm cold blooded too! I thought you were above believing rumors that spread around the Anbu! I thought you would trust me more than that.. But I guess you are just like the rest of those assholes in the Anbu!" He roared looking me dead in the eyes and stepping forward coming face to face with me but he seemed to realize his mistake when he saw the tears that had come to my eyes. I clenched my fist and punched him hard in the chest sending him back a few feet and would have knocked him into the wall if he didn't have good chakra control and stopped himself after sliding back a few feet
