The air was still. Time stopped before my eyes. My body stood there stagnant as demons comforted me from behind, giving me their consent. Do it. I released a slight breath, staring down at a man in his mid- 40s. Terror was written across his face as his body began to shiver. Clutching my teeth together only darkened my cold expression. I felt my back pocket for 'it'.

"No please, I won't do it again. Please don't do it" the man said beginning to tear up.

I gave him one last look showing my superiority. The power, the anger, my energy all squeezed in one force, free of any disturbance. Quietus; he is at rest.

2:45 am

An escalating force of noise caused me to lift my eyes. The loud barking scrambled my thoughts, serving it on a platter. I had woken up in a puddle of saliva and cool sweat. Disgusted by my own fluids, I gravitated towards the kitchen. Food. I squinted my eyes in search of some food. The lights from the fridge stood out in the darkness.

"What the hell is you doing?" a voice said emerging from the darkness.

My soul had left for a slight second from her scare.

"Nothing" I said already stuffing my face. It was Reign, my best friend.

"Is that my leftovers?" she said getting closer. Gulp. "no." I said silently. "KARHÉ! I was going to eat that for lunch today" she said upset. "sorry" although I wasn't sorry whatsoever.

"I'll buy you lunch tomorrow after school" I said negotiating. "Yeah. Okay. Sure" she said trailing back into her room.

Reign and I met 13 years ago, in primary school and ever since then we've stayed by each other's side. Soft fur brushed my ankles, my dog (Cocoa) friendly made her presence known. I closed the fridge door taking the remnants of Reign's leftovers to my room.

...

It was morning, the new day I'd wish not to see. The grey skies married the cold concrete building. My ears tingled as my shoe hit the ground causing an addicting sensation. Depression is written all over this place. Everything about it is monotone. Jail, is all I ever think about when I come here, the similarities are 100% accurate. I only come here to provide proof that I know of something. An education is the key to living in this hypnotic renaissance. Supposedly, lazily colored concrete is supposed to make me happier, ironic. My hands clutched onto my book bag as I floated up the steps. Then, 'it' had happened. I had come face to face with the door of my business leadership class. I looked down at my feet, sighing in regret. Entering, the usual set of eyes bore holes through me. 9:00 am, my professor, who looked to be in her late 50s began to ramble through her lecture. She only recreates 'average' simulations of what business ventures should be like. Last time checked Florida isn't average. A heavy blanket gently dropped over me, causing me to slouch and eventually struggle to keep my eyes open. 9:45 am, alarmingly bright lights resurrected the room. Students suddenly began to rush out the room, as I patiently waited for it to fade.

Walking towards the parking lot, a particular face caught my eye. I examined his features from a distance. We locked eye contact, allowing me to enter through his light brown eyes to his soul. Our souls spoke through our eyes but were quickly interrupted as soon as another girl latched onto his arm.

The beginning of the end.

"So your meeting?" I asked as I sipped my green tea.

"It was the same old same old. How about you? How was school?" I giggled at how motherly she sounds.

"It was fine; I fell asleep the whole time. At this point I don't even think I can make it to where you're at" I said honestly. "Kaé look it takes time" she said optimistically.

"Yeah, time and no interest. I just don't mix with that kind of stuff. I came back to work on a happier me. I think, with my undocumented knowledge I can end up like Steve Jobs" she began to burst out laughing, giving everyone in Panera Bread the opportunity to tune in.

"Speaking of last night what happened? Why were you up at 3? Did it happen again?" she said lowering her tone. "yeah" I replied dryly.

"What happened?"

"I don't think you want to know" I said keeping it to myself.

"Was it graphic? Did anybody die?" I stood silent, exchanging a glare with her. "Watch your mouth we're in a public place" I said stiffening up.

I found myself outside taking in the cooling breeze from my front yard. I contemplated, I freed my head. My mind drifted further away from reality by the second. What is the truth? Who can I trust? Is there even trust? I've been living in the past all my life, I think it's time to let go and step into the present.

The silky hands of darkness slithered down my shoulders. I lifted my head charged with the tangible evil. Flashes of memories passed by until I landed on one in particular. My eyes were pitch black, looking all too familiar. A dark red embellished light spilled out of my body. My cup was tipping over. I had faced this guy, sly and wise. He knew what he was doing to me. Shadows corned the room making it seem darker. I could feel the intense amount of anger boiled up within me. Rage was now an understatement. Suddenly, I griped onto the knife and stabbed him, watching his body drop with no hint of emotion. The hands that once caressed my shoulders quickly shredded me, leaving my soul in pieces.

I reached my peak, I can't speak everything will always be a blur of madness.

A/N

Hey this is chapter one of Kai. I hope you guys enjoyed a little preview of what I am stirring up. I know it seems way different in comparison to the first book but like I said if you have any questions message me or hit me up on my blog. So by all means if you have any questions or any commentary please just let me know because I just want to make the book as perfect as It can be. I know I'm barely author material but I'd like to introduce something a little new to the game, breaking boundaries and defining what an author truly is. So once again reminding you guys, please just hit me up and tell me how you feel. I see all of y'all like to vote but it would be better if you guys comment or just message me individually (if you don't want to comment on my stories).

Love, naé
