Chapter Three

Shortly before Hilary’s parents died they were in a need of money so they rented out the guest’s house for a low price to people who needed it. Aggie Debbrie and her family rented one of the houses because they had lost their house when their mom lost her job. When Aggie and Hilary met they became fast friends. They would spend all their time together doing whatever their crazy minds could conjure up. They would buy bags of marshmallows and heat them up in the microwave until they’d explode. Sometimes they would pretend to be pirates who were captured by the evil Brianna. On Hilary’s favorite kind of days were when they would have sleepovers, make smores, and laugh so hard until their sides hurt.

Eventually, Aggie’s mom got another job so they could get a real house but she would never breakup Hilary and Aggie. They loved each other too much. When she told them at first that they were moving they sobbed all day and night, until she changed her mind.

When Hilary’s parents died Aggie would refuse to leave her side and would do whatever Hilary wanted if it made her feel better. Hilary was so grateful to have a friend like her. Aggie looked like Hilary with her beautiful blonde hair and stunning blue eyes. But despite their common looks their attitudes were not alike at all. While Hilary was feminine and school was a sore subject for her, Aggie loved to get dirty and couldn’t live without reading. Whenever Hilary brought up how different they were Aggie would say, “opposites attract!” Aggie was funny like Hilary though and loved to be around kids. They also both had a special love for animals.

After reading to the kid’s everyday Hilary would go get Aggie and they would go to the local animal shelter. They would feed the baby animals and tend for the hurt animals. They both felt as if they had a special connection with the animals. They could tell if the animals were sad or if they were excited about something. Whenever the animals would see them their eyes would light up and all of them would start jumping up and down.

Together they would visit each different animal and spend at least 5 minutes with each one. There were a lot different types of animals. Cats, dogs, chickens, rabbits, hamsters, fish, birds, turtles, frogs, insects, you name it! They could spend hours there just bonding with the animals. Everyday they would leave the shelter and talk about how they wish they could adopt all of them- or at least one! But there was a rule at the castle that there were no pets allowed. One time Aggie and Hilary tried to sneak in a pet frog but it escaped and Brianna got really mad. They both were not allowed to go back to the shelter for a week.
