Chapter Eight

When Hilary opened the doors of the castle Aggie burst in, a suitcase rolling behind. She was looking for something in the bag that had been slung over her shoulder.

“Oh my gosh Hilary we have so much to do,” she had been saying as she was walking. “But I just can’t find it!”

“Find what?” Hilary asked.

“My green eyeshadow! I just have to-”

Aggie stopped in front of Hilary, looked at her, and smiled. “Happy Birthday lovey.” she said hugging her friend.

When the hug ended Hilary linked arms with her friend. “So,” she said. “Shall we?”

“Lets do it!”

The girls ran upstairs, Aggie dragging her suitcase behind her. They both laid everything out on Hilary’s big dresser. There was so much to do to get ready!

They had to do hair, makeup, nail, and pick out jewelry.

They both we doing each others makeup and hair. Aggie did Hilary’s makeup first. She put silver eyeshadow around her eyes and black mascara on. Aggie also put bright red lipstick and a coral pink blush on Hilary. Hilary looked beautiful and so grown up. She also felt like a queen,

When Hilary did Aggie’s makeup she did more color. She put green eyeshadow on her to go with the dress we was wearing. She also had black mascara and coral pink blush on. Instead of the bright lipstick for her though she did the dark red because of her pale skin.

They both got into their dresses- Allie in the green and black and Hilary in the sky blue. When Hilary tried to put on her dress her stomach started to ache. It wasn’t as bad as it was in the morning but it still hurt her terribly. She tried to get past it. They were not done yet though! They still had to do their hair and nails.

Aggie had Hilary curl her hair and Hilary had Aggie put her hair in a bun . After Aggie did Hilary’s hair she carefully put a stunning tiara. After they did their nails. Hilary painted hers dark blue while Aggie’s were an emerald green.

Hilary put on diamond earring and her mother’s pearl necklace. The necklace was a big deal to Hilary because her mother gave it before she died. It was specially meant for this day. When Hilary put the necklace on she felt as if her mother were standing next to her. She started to tear up.

“We are almost done with everything,” Aggie started. “We just have to-” she stopped when she saw Hilary crying. “Aw, baby what’s wrong?” she asked. Aggie sat down on the bed and motioned for Hilary to sit next to her. Hilary sat next to her and put her head on Aggie’s shoulder.

“Now tell me sugar,” Aggie said patting her friend’s knee. “What’s the matter?”

“I miss my mom and dad.”

“Well of course you do!”

“But it’s just ever since I was little I imagined my mom and dad to be with me today.”

“I know you have sweetie. Everybody would want their parents with them on their coronation.”

“I know,” Hilary mumbled and took her head off of her friends shoulder.

“I love that necklace,” Aggie said smiling. “Where did you get it?”

“It was my mom’s”

“That’s great!” exclaimed Aggie. “So it’s like you will have her with you during the coronation!”

“I guess you are right.”

“You know I am right.”

“I know I just hate admitting it to you.”

“Now dry those tears. We still have to pick out my jewelry!”

They both got up off the bed.

“Speaking of jewelry for you. I have a gift.”

“For me?”

“Yes!” Hilary said, walking over to her dresser. She opened her sock drawer and took out a small purple box with a red bow.

“No I can’t except this!” Aggie exclaimed. “You’re the birthday girl!”

“Exactly,” said Hilary with a wide grin on her face. “And since it’s my birthday, you  have to do what I say. So take it”

Aggie took the box and unwrapped it carefully. Inside was a beautiful charm bracelet. The charms were things they loved to do, or did together. There was one charm that was a frog, reminding Aggie of the time they both snuck a frog in the castle and it got loose. Also a marshmallow which reminded her of when they used to blow up marshmallows in the microwave. There were so many so many other lovely charms reminding both of them of the great times they have had together.

Hilary helped Aggie put it on her wrist.

“Oh Hilary! It’s lovely! I couldn’t have asked for a better present!”

They both hugged each other for a long time. Then Hilary looked at the clock on her nightstand and broke the hug.

“It’s 11:15 we better go!”. And with that they both ran downstairs to greet the guests.
