I attain with arriving to school, and fortunately, in good timing. I leap off my bike and scurry towards the mysterious building in front of me. As I am approaching the building closer I perceive the majority of students are in some type of group. I scan my surroundings as I stand in front of the entrance. I wish I have a guide...
"You can do this, Harvey."
I whisper under my breath. Before I enter the ginormous building I search for a nearby bike rack. While doing that I can physically feel people stare at me, like laser-beams. They snigger and hold their hands to cover their mouths while talking as I walk by.
It's obviously about me - I'm the new guy!
But I don't pay them any interest, at this point in time I need a bike rack!"Excuse me, where are the bike racks?"
I try to politely ask a female after searching for five damn minutes. As quick as lightning she rotates to face me. She has deep green eyes and hazel-coloured long straight hair. She is wearing dark blue skinny jeans with a long black knitted jumper. Her white shoes are spotless and her eyelashes are lightly covered in mascara.
Her lips are also rouge."Walk down over there and take a left."
She fakes a smile, exposing her teeth in a rude manner."Thank you so very much."
I say sarcastically, also returning the fake smile. With that information, I attempt to dart away but she grasps my shoulder.
"Wait- you're the new guy, aren't you?"
She furrows her eyebrows."Yep, that's me."
I chuckle, rolling my eyes."Hmm, I see. Well, want me to be your guide? I can show you your classes if you want."
She purposely chews her mint-flavour gum out loud, damn she loves the attention.I quickly respond,
"Uh- sure? But I thought you disliked me."She chuckles then hauls my arm. Uh- okay? Firstly, we saunter towards the bike rack.
I lock my bike up and we then stroll back towards the entrance of the school together.
I'm actually feeling a little tense, I gulp as we enter. A guy hastens into me."Watch it!"
He snarls. He observes me for a while, looking like he regretted what he said with that grin on his face. Instead of rushing, he calmingly ambles away. No! Come back!
"Oh, don't mind him. He's Jay, one of the popular kids in this school. However, something seems off about him and no one knows exactly what."
I'm not listening, I'm too busy gazing upon him in the distance, he has dark brown messy hair, like mine but his is more organised. He's wearing blue ripped jeans and a black top.
As I trace back, I remember his dark blue eyes- like the ocean- stare at mine.
I feel sick, an unknown type of sick."Hey! Are you even listening to me?"
She gives me attitude with her eyebrows scrunched together in frustration."Yeah! Of course I am."
I reply, trying not to get on the wrong side of her.Awkward silence...
"So-uh... what's your name?"
I bring an end to the awkwardness."My name is Saskia."
"Wonderful name, sounds rare too.
My name is Harvey.""Nice to meet you, Harvey."
We proceed with roaming around the school, Saskia points out her friends, Akaila and Lexi. She also shows me the toilets, canteen and a couple of my classes. We roam a little further.
"Here is your first class, Geography in class H15."
She points to the sign, written above the door.I clasp onto my bag straps from nervousness and take a deep breath.
"Thanks for the tour, I'll obviously need more time to get used to how this school runs, but it won't take too long, right?"
"Don't worry, yeah you'll get used to it.
You're right, it doesn't take too long."
Her eyes are glued to her phone.I quietly sigh.
"Well I better get going."
I awkwardly laugh. She awkwardly laughs back,
"Haha, yeah... see you later. I'll be here waiting for you after class."I nod and rotate around to the classroom door.
Here goes nothing.
