I lend a helping hand to Jay and he perches on the sofa.
"Want a coffee or something?"
I ask, changing the subject."Nah, only you."
He smirks, trying to cheer me up.I blush, "Don't be cheesy."
"Jay, can you stay the night? I don't want to be lonely..."
I give him the puppy eyes."Of course!"
He excitingly beams.I lean towards Jay and softly kiss him, but I pull away because I'm laughing too much.
"Why are you laughing?"
He tries not to laugh, too."Because I'm falling for you.."
I whisper, my laughing ends as I stare at him.Jay smiles, exposing those white, shiny teeth of his.
-
Jay is laying on the sofa, catching up on sleep - what I assume. Luckily Jay and I are quite thin so I can fit beside him. I rest my head on his warm chest and watch some TV, slowly stroking his hair. (Even though I wasn't even paying attention to what was on TV, I was too busy listening to Jay breathe - it was comforting).
"You're so cute."
I accidentally whisper.
My thoughts got the best of me!"Thanks."
He whispers back with a huge smirk on his face, he was awake the whole time!I chuckle and grasp a nearby pillow and playfully launch it at his face. He chuckles back and gathers me in his arms, taking me upstairs. Jay gently tosses me on my bed, I'm in hysterics and so is he.
We laugh and talk for ages. I know his character very well now. I can now also pick out the small details about him. One conversation we had was about bullying. He's also been bullied at school. He had trust in people but they just ditched him, exposing his personal information. The bullying became horrendous and therefore, he had to move schools. Jay told me he joined this school around month ago, so I didn't feel alone anymore - as I only joined a couple of days ago.
10:30pm
A yawn escapes from Jay's mouth. He faces me and smiles so purely. I've fallen too deep, I'm drowning in his ocean eyes...
"I might go to sleep soon, Harv."
He jokingly pats my head, then walks to the bathroom."I'll sort your clothes out in the morning."
I slightly shout so he can hear me.I notice the tap running as Jay brushes his teeth, but I realise that it's awfully quiet downstairs.
"Mother..."
I gasp.I rush downstairs and see a note on the kitchen island.
Dear Harvey.
After a while of heavy thinking, I decide to let you know that I've left the house. I need time to think, time to sort my head out - I have so many mental issues. Harvey, it hasn't been easy for me, I struggle day-to-day and I cover that up, for you. I love you with all my heart and I can't let you see me like this. I don't exactly know if I'll ever return, but I am perfectly safe. Look after Bailey for me, you know where his food is kept. Xx - Mother.I re-read the note a few times, it hasn't sunk in properly. I get emotional, my mother is my soul mate, and I feel I let her down too much... I hope she is safe, I hope she's alright. I travel back upstairs, I see Jay perk up as I enter the room. He immediately rises and wraps his arms around my neck, swaying me back and fourth.
"My mother has left the house."
I spoke."Is she alright?"
Jay let go and sat on the bed with a frown."She wrote a note, she says she's safe but I'm not certain on that."
I sigh.I enter the bathroom and turn the shower on.
"I won't be long, Jay."
I force a smile, forgetting the situation for a while. He nods, smiling back.
