Chapter 4: Inner and Real Demons

My friends and I ran up to my room each of us still shocked. Our descriptions of the creature were almost exactly the same. But the same question rung in my brain like a pingball in the machine, why us, why all of us. And what was it exactly. My thoughts were running wild , chasing each other, all around my brain , until Jess snapped me back to reality,

" We are the new group of kids " Jess said with realization
" what are you talking about Jess " Nikki said confused
" Oh my god. We are the group of teens that are going to die on Halloween " Phoebe said, the color was drained out of her face. The color was drained out of all our faces.
" your crazy , absolutely crazy Phoebes " i said not believing myself for a second. She burst into tears knowing just knowing , our lives were in danger.
" no think about, this thing , could've killed all of those poor kids. I mean there's not multiple serial killers, and this thing has haunted Brooklyn for more then one hundred of years, this goes way back. And it takes children and teens, we are 17 years old. " Alex said stating all the facts
" but what does this mean, we can't tell anyone we will be sent to a institution " Nikki said
" This means we fight , we figure out and kill slaughter this thing " Alex said with vengeance on her face--
" are you in this with me ? " Alex said looking around, I was the first to raise my hand.
" let's bust this place the hell up " I said putting my hand in the middle of the circle, waiting for hands to be piled on like those team work movies.
" Me " Phoebe said putting her hand on top of mine
" Me too " Jess said putting her hand on top of the pile
" Let's defeat this monster once and for all " Nikki said piling one more hand .
" what do we need to do, what's the plan " I asked
" we need to dig, dig far back to when the killings first started. This means not only help of technology but of libraries too. " Alex said
" ok so, let's get the laptop now then we can break off into pairs and go find evidence in other places, but first we need information " I said
" damn , were mother-effing Nancy Drew's right now " Jess said excitedly
We all paused and laughed.
We grabbed the laptop and put it in the middle of all of us. We went to google, a girls best friend, and searched up Brooklyn , New York's Halloween Horrors. My finger slid and accidentally clicked on (images) and what popped up scarred our eyes. Phoebe let out a loud shriek and Nikki closed her eyes from shock. I quickly shut the laptop.
" if we are up for this " -- Alex let out a deep breath
" we are going to see more gruesome stuff like that and dead bodies. We need to be absolutely brave " Alex said trying to be as brave as possible
We turned the laptop on and quickly left images. We went to news article linking farther back then the 60s and 50s, and it was gut wrenching knowing that if we didn't hurry up we would end up like all of the poor kids on the web. As the images of the bodies came up linked with the articles something caught my eye, this star looking shape that would normally appear in some witchcraft horror movie.

" hey guys, I think I, I think I found something " I said shocked, confused, and amazed at my accomplishment
" what is it ?" Phoebe asked
" look at every victims body, even though they are mutilated there's the same mark but it's so tiny " I said trying to figure it out
" I can larger the image of you want " Jess said
" great " I said
She made the picture larger so that we could see the star like thing scorched onto their skin as big as a fly.
" holy. Shit. " I said
" what is that " Phoebe said
" Oh my god, I have seen that before, um um um--- remember in Ms. Windell's class we had to do a project on some witchcraft thing , that's a symbol " Alex said stammering excitedly
" oh lord yea I remember , the pentagram right ? " Jess said remembering the symbol
" here let me search it up " Nikki said grabbing the laptop from my legs onto hers, my legs were relieved from being aired out because of the heat that came from the laptop that was placed on my legs.

" what does this mean though? " Phoebe asked
"it means , we found our first piece of information " Jess said triumphantly
" yes ! " we said in union
