The next day I was withdrawn from the hospital. My head still hurt like a bitch, so they put me on some painkillers. I sighed and sat up straight in the car, while my mom drove.
"What's wrong?" My mom asked.
"Nothing, just the whole thing with Brandon and Christian." I sighed again leaning against the window again.
"What about them?" My mom asked, her eyes never leaving the road to glance at me.
"Well Christian told me how he felt, then Brandon said he was in love with me." I said. She made a right to the wrong road. "Where are we going?" I asked cautiously.
"You are gonna go talk to Brandon."She stated like it was nothing in the world.
"Are you kidding me?" I asked exasperated. saying I was mad was an understatement.
"Nope," She started as we pulled up into the driveway of his house, and also my best friends. She turned and looked at me in my eyes. "You shouldn't leave a fight unresolved. You should try to reason with him. I mean, I knew he was in love with you from the minute you brought him home. Tell him your feelings about him. Because, someday your gonna wish you had." She said tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. I sighed, knowing I wasn't gonna win this argument and stepped out of the car. My whole body was probably shaking. I rang the doorbell. Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up.
"Coming!" I heard their mom, Angie yelled. I heard footsteps and the door opened. Angie's brown hair was in a ponytail and her blue eyes were dull. I could tell she was baking from all the stains on her apron she had on. "Alex, are you here for Amy?" She asked opening up the door for me.
"No, I'm here for Brandon actually." I said walking into their huge house. She just looked at me and smiled. "What?" I asked putting my hands in the air, surrendering.
"Oh nothing Hun." She said as she walked over to the stairs."Brandon!" She screamed.
"What?" Brandon faintly said.
"You have company, get your ass down here!" She yelled, she turned to me and smiled. "I'll see you around dear." she said before walking back into the kitchen. I heard footsteps come down the stairs and there was Brandon.
"What are you doing here." He sneered. I felt bad and I cringed a little at the thought of him being mad at me.
"Can we talk outside or something?" I asked. He nodded and I turned around and opened the door for us. He shut the door quietly and I sat on the porch swings. My moms car was gone, so it looks like I'm staying with Amy...Yay! *Note the sarcasm*
I sat on the porch swing holding my jumper in place with my hands, so they don't rise up on accident. I had a hard time trying to do that at the hospital. "So why are you here?" He sneered once again. I cringed and looked down. Tears forming in my eyes.
"I'm so sorry about the things at the hospital Brandon. I don't want us to stop being friends because of that." I said. He sighed and sat on then porch swing with me. He put his arm around me and I curled into his side, in a sisterly way.
"Alex, I know about your secrets. I know everything about you." He said. How did he know my secrets? "I know about your little brother from when you were writing it on your paper for the teacher, I know about the scars, and the not feeling perfect anymore. I know you only act confidence to try and cover it up. It doesn't work on me. That's how much I love you, but if you don't feel the same way, it's fine" He said sniffling, I looked up and we shared eye contact.
"Thanks Brandon, I don't know about my feelings anymore. I mean your like a brother to me, but Christian has been my crush since 3rd grade.." I trailed off standing up.
"Whatever." He said storming off and into the house leaving me outside. That's when I lost it, I fell to the ground hugging my knees and crying.
"Alex?" Someone said. I looked up and saw a figure in the shadows. He came closer to the porch and then there he was. Christian Moore.
"What are you doing here?" I asked wiping a tear away from my face.
"I live next door and I heard yours and Brandon's conversation." He smirked, could he be anymore of a jerk?
"That's cool. Now if you don't mind, I need to walk home." I said standing up brushing off my butt. I walked down the porch steps to where Christian stood and he looked at me. Those blue eyes, oh god. Now I realize why I like him so much.
"Why don't you come over and hang for a bit?" He asked and smiled. Those pearly white teeth... dang him.
"Ok." I smiled. He turned around and I followed him. It was a log cabin house type and it was beautiful. We walked up the steps to the glass doors. He opened the door for me an I stepped in. It was a cozy little house. He had a fireplace with a tv above it and blue couches facing it. The stairs were in front of the door. It looked cozy. "Nice place." I complimented.
"Thanks, it's just me and my brother here." He said leading me through the living room to what I presume is the kitchen. And it was.
"So where's you brother?" I asked sitting on the chair by the island.
"At his girlfriends." He said going to the fridge. He grabbed a grapefruit and went to the cutting board.
"Oh, where are your parents?" I asked. He stopped cutting the grapefruit and spun around. Tears were forming in his eyes.
I jumped off the chair and went an hugged him. He hugged me back and sobbed silently. The comfortable silence felt amazing. I pulled away still holding on to his sides and his hands holding my waist. He leaned in and so did I. Our lips were about to touch when the front door opened. We pulled apart and Christian put me in the closet. He put his finger by his mouth saying 'Shh.'
He left the door open and I peeked through it.
"Christian!" A man's voice yelled. Christian looked at the figure in the hall, I couldn't see him, in terror.
"Y-yes?" He stuttered. The man walked into the kitchen, his hands in fists.
"Why isn't the house clean?!" He shouted.
"I don't know I'm sorry dad." Christian flinched. The man came over and punched Christian in the face. I covered my hand from screaming and fell to my knees. Tears forming in my eyes. "Stop please!" Christian yelled. The man straddled him and kept punching him.
"I wish you were never born! You're a disgrace! You're unwanted and worthless! Go to hell!" His dad yelled. Tears streamed down my face and I held my mouth so I wouldn't make a noise. After 5 minutes of screaming and hitting, his dad got off and walked out the kitchen door. I opened the door and crawled to a half awake Christian.
"Stay with me." I cried holding his head in my lap.
"I'm s-sorry you had to see t-that." He stuttered and choked on some blood.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yea." He half smiled. He held my hand and I held his. For one moment everything felt happy, everything was perfect. Nothing last forever.
