Our Childhood Becomes Awkward?

"Where the hell were you?!" My best friend creases her forehead and looks at me so angrily there's no possible way she could look any angrier.

"I'm sorry!~~~ I started sleeping on the grass because I had extra time-"

"SLEEPING?!!!" She practically yells out and I have to wait for her to calm down.

"That doesn't matter. Anyways... guess who I met~~~"

"DOES IT LOOK LIKE I'M GIVING A DAMN PIECE OF S-"

"Connor!~~~" I squeal his name loud enough so that she can hear over her yelling. Her mouth stops and then it curves upward, transforming into a huge smile.

"Connor?!!! How!!! Omg where?! Tell me the whole story!!!" She squeals.

"Huh. Looks like you still have a bit of a crush on him." My eyebrows raise up and down and her cheeks take on a serious blush of deep red.

"Shut up~~~" She playfully smacks me on my shoulder and a smile is twirling all over her face.

"So I was sleeping, right? I didn't know what was happening around me while I was sleeping so when I woke up, I was surprised to see..." I slow down my words and she pulls her face closer.

"Him sleeping next to me and holding my hand." I whisper the last part, but it's still loud enough for her to hear. Her eyes widen with shock, then jealousy, and then... happiness.

"You know what, I give up on him. Just for you." She grabs my arm with both hands.

"Wh- Connor? You give up on him? For me?!" My cheeks fluster.

"Yeah~~~ I mean, it's so obvious that he likes you." She winks at me and lets go.

"WhubutIdontlikehim..." My words are clustered and just come gushing out of my mouth. "He's a childhood friend. My best friend other than you. How awkward will it be once we're in a... relationship?" For a second, just a second, I imagine how the little kisses on my cheeks and lips from our childhood gradually grow to become more real. More meaningful. Something more than just a friendly kiss. Instantly my cheeks flare and my friend here laughs.

"I know what you were thinking about, you bad girl." She crosses her arms.

"What? Oh huh I was just uh..." My eyes look away from her and my cheeks grow to an even deeper red.
