Blood came out of his mouth right after the punch happened. he spat it out, grabbing me by the collar with one hand and punched me back, making me fall onto the ground—hard.
“jeon!!” jieun screamed, rushing towards me.
i was about to hurl from the impact. i supported myself with my arms to steady myself on the ground, shaking weakly.
“a–are you alright?” she touched my back, trying to comfort me. but i held her hand, gently giving it back to her. she looked so worried about me, softly slapping me on the arm. “ya! don’t ever do that again. he’s not someone who gives up easily, why couldn’t you understand i was walking away from a battle i can’t win in?”
a dark chuckle came from within me as i managed to stand up perfectly. walking casually towards him with a cocky smirk on my face. “wipe that smirk, you loser.” he landed another punch on my face, this time, i managed to keep myself standing as i took it.
“no.” the grin on his face disappeared when i spoke again. i rose my head up to send him a death glare. “you’re the loser. you lost someone as great and as affectionate as jieun. you don’t deserve her—and you never will.”
just as he was about to land another punch on my face, jieun came in between us, holding both of her boyfriend’s hands. she turned back to me while she could still restrain him. “jeon, go! i’ll take care of him. just, please..go.” tears were formulating in the corner of her eyes as she turned back, trying to calm him down.
and once he did, he went walking back into his car, jieun following him inside his car as they took off. i could read jieun’s lips through the newly-polished window of the car; ‘mianhe.’
—
that was probably the last time i saw jieun for the day. i ended up walking about 5 km all the way to the park. because that was all what my strength could do.
i sat under a tree, breathless and pained. the blood on my face, some that came from my mouth had already dried. i didn’t care. i didn’t care anymore what others could possibly see from me. i’m just too tired to think of anything.
“jungkook..?”
frustratedly, i ruffled my hair, not even bothering to open my eyes. i figured it was jieun. “just leave me alone!”
the squeak of the owner of the voice made sounded way different from jieun’s. i opened my eyes and the truth was revealed; it was lisa.
i sighed in relief, bowing my head down. “lisa, it’s only you.”
she heaved a huge sigh, crouching down to see my face with her hand gently handling me by the chin so she could get a glimpse of the blood on my face. “ya, kookie. you’re in a heap of trouble now! look at you, look at all of those—why did you pick a fight!?” she breathed in defeat, tapping me to help me stand up. “come on. let’s get you cleaned up.”
“wait..” i barely breathed. “please, let me stay here. just for a while. i’m too tired to stand up, i don’t want to burden you.”
“alright.” she gently landed my arm on my stomach, sitting beside me, her eyes still pasted on my face.
“aren’t you going home yet?” i asked.
“and leave you here out alone, this beaten up? no way. if whoever did this to you, finds you again, he’ll just make things worse and might really kill you.” i rubbed my eyes frustratingly at her stubborness.
