You were in some sort of studio. It was like one of those sit-com's where an audience watches they show as it's being filmed. You didn't know what show it was, nor how you got here, nor when you had arrived, it almost felt as if you had just woken up in this seat. Like your body had been on auto pilot before you finally regained consciousness.
Just as you came to your senses someone on the front of the stage spoke. A handsome young man wearing a blue suit. He was well dressed and neatly kept, having a bright and cheerful smile on his face, had this been any other situation you would felt something of attraction. But your natural instinct of fear over rode that.
"Well that was certainly an adventure for old Marian here, wasn't it?" the mas was saying. He had a smooth velvety voice and used light and cheerful tones, despite the fact that the elderly woman beside him was covered in blood, none of it seemed to be her own. She appeared to be happy enough on stage, grinning up at the audience too. There was absolutely no sign of where the blood had come from, the stage was empty, completely empty aside from the two people.
"She never expected it would get that hot in the kitchen!" the man continued, flashing a smile and the audience laughed in response. You felt like you were missing a joke. Something was clearly wrong.
"Now we all know how funny cooking can really be! We're making comedy gold, we are. And that's what we are here for! We hope you laughed. Thank you for laughing with us!" you frowned, the whole place getting that much creepier and you quickly stood from your seat looking around at the audience. As they didn't turn, they didn't even acknowledge that you were there. But the man at the front of the stage did, a pair of piercing blue eyes focusing on you, his smile faltering before he continued with his speech, looking away like you weren't there either.
"That's what we're about here, doesn't it, folks? Come laugh with us again next time! And remember: LAUGH ... IS ... FUN! Good night! And laugh! And laugh! Just laugh! We love the make laugh. Make more for laughter so as to for laugh. Laugh with us. Laugh with us."
You started moving, pushing past the laughing audience, knowing you just had to get out of this place. The skeptic in you was screaming that you were the one being pranked but your fear was just telling you to run.
You managed to push past all the people as the audience broke out into a chorus.
"Laugh is fun," they all said in unison,"Laugh is fun. Laugh is fun. Laugh is fun."
You threw the doors open, quickly shutting them behind you and drowning out the creepy chanting as you hurried from the studio. You seemed to be in a warehouse of sorts and right ahead was the exit.
Your legs started moving faster, almost running towards the glowing green exit sign.
"Did you not enjoy the show?"
You halted in your tracks, the voice coming from almost right behind you, how was he so close? How did you not hear him?
"You weren't laughing, was I not funny enough?" he sounded almost sad.
You turned to face him, it felt like your body had been taken over. He was smiling sadly again, his eyes focused on you as he sighed.
"You're different aren't you?" he questioned, moving closely so now you were almost touching.
"D-different," you questioned, taking a few steps back. He only followed you, his tall figure looming over you.
"They all just laugh, why didn't you? You intrigue me. How can I make you laugh?" he hummed thoughtfully, that smile never faltering.
You laughed nervously as you backed away, hoping that would be enough to appease the man.
He chuckled in response shaking his head,"That won't do. You won't be leaving until you laugh."
