It was nine in the morning when I woke up. Most people would wake up at six in the morning or maybe even earlier, but due to the fact that I worked until late at night, I did not have a schedule like that. I was fine with that, though. No matter how late I fell asleep or how late I woke up, time went on. That was life.
Two days before this, I had developed a writer's block. It still had not gone away. Even if I wanted to write about meeting the skeleton, I could not find out how to write about him. There was no way for me to do my job until I cleared my head and got rid of the writer's block, and this was hard for me to do. This was one of the bad things about my job that made me wish I had gotten a different job. Yet, sometimes people didn't get what they wanted. Maybe that was a good thing.
In order to clear my mind, I decided to take a walk and maybe go to a nearby cafe for coffee. Perhaps that would end my writer's block. All I could really do was hope it would. It was likely that it wouldn't, though.
When I got to the cafe, I was surprised to find that it was closed. That was when I remembered that it was Thursday, the one day it was closed. It was a shame because that was the only cafe that I actually liked. The only things I could do now was either find a new place to go to or just go home.
I didn't really want to go home. So, I decided to go to a new pub that just opened a few days ago that was called Grillby's. Usually I wouldn't go to pubs, but I really didn't want to return home with this writer's block. It was my best chance to get rid of it, though I wished that there was a different way that I would enjoy more.
When I got to Grillby's, what surprised me the most was the bartender. He was made of a purple fire. His teeth were sharp, he had glasses, and he had a black fur coat on. It was another monster. His appearance confused me. "If he was made of fire, why did he need a fur coat? Did he even feel the heat?" I thought to myself. It was unlikely that he felt it, so right after I wondered about it, I felt stupid.
Hesitantly, I sat down at the bar. Monsters always made me nervous. It was likely that it would stay that way, even if I tried to stop feeling like that. The fact that there was only a wood table that he could probably burn through between us did not help.
Just when I thought that nothing weird would happen today, I heard a voice from behind me say, "nice to see you again, dollface." It was Sans. I turned around to see him wearing the same outfit as yesterday. "mind if i sit with ya?" He asked.
"You can sit with me if you really want to." I told him. "good, i was going to sit with you, even if ya said 'no', doll." He replied to me, then he sat down in the chair to my left. "If he was going to sit with me no matter what, why did he ask?" I wondered.
"what are you gonna get here?" Sans asked me. That, I did not know. This was only my first time there and I had not even thought about that. "i suggest you get either fries or a burger, sweetheart. they are the specials here, anyways." Those seemed normal enough. "I guess I will get a burger..." I told Sans. "sounds good, doll face." Sans replied. "hey, grillby, she'll have a burger and i'll have the regular."
Grillby then walked away, only to walk back a few moments later with a bottle of mustard and a burger. At least the food monsters had was normal. Nothing else seemed to be normal about them. Not even their appetite. Seeing the mustard bottle, I couldn't help but wonder, "Is that for Sans? Was he going to drink it? Do all monsters have such weird tastes?"
Grillby put the food on the table and glared at Sans. "i'll pay my tab soon, grillby. i promise." Sans told Grillby. With that, Grillby went back to what he was doing before we ordered. "nah, i won't." I heard Sans whisper. Grillby didn't seem to notice what Sans whispered, though.
Then, Sans started to drink his mustard. As much as I thought he would do that, I was still surprised that he drank it. If all monsters had strange tastes, I just hoped it at least wouldn't be only mustard that they liked.
