The footsteps slowly got closer as I sat on the couch. I listened as I waited waiting, and tried not to seem too impatient. Then, I heard them, the first steps down the stairs. Sans better had a good explanation.

I turned my head to the stairs and saw Sans walking down slowly. He was probably walking that way because he knew that I was awake and that I would want answers. That could also be why he looked so nervous. He was so nervous that he was sweating. Wait, how do skeletons even sweat?

As soon as Sans got down the stairs completely, I called out to him. "Hey, Sans." As soon as I said that, Sans paused and looked at the couch I was on with a surprised expression. He must have not known I was down here before.

When Sans didn't answer my greeting, I asked, "Had a nice sleep?" Sans still did not answer, in fact, he only looked more nervous. "You mind telling me why you were sleeping in my bed?"

After a moment of hesitation, Sans explained to me saying, "i was just checking in on you just in case you had 'nother nightmare." That explained why he was in my house.

"Alright," I said. "That explains why you are my house, but what I really want to know is why you were asleep in my bed. So, are you going to tell me?"

There was another moment of hesitation before Sans told me, "i must have just fallen asleep, sweetheart. after i got home, i had a rough time and got no rest."

So, when he left my house, he had a bad time? I wondered why and just had to ask. "What happened to make you have such a bad day after you got home?" That was something I wanted to know a lot more now. I was curious about his life when he wasn't breaking into someone's house and sleeping in their bed or eating at Grillby's.

"don't worry 'bout it, doll. it was nothing you should be worried about." Sans said to me. He was both trying to avoid it and trying not to make me get worried for his life. I could just tell that he was. This subject seemed very sensitive for Sans and I didn't want to push him too much.

"You sure?" I asked Sans, trying to get a better answer from him without pushing him too much. "It had to be something really bad if you couldn't sleep at your house. When I yelled at you when I saw you, you barely moved."

"i told you," Sans began to reply to me. "i didn't get rest after i got home. i was tired."

Of course he sticked to his story. I know for sure, though, that he was not telling the whole truth. He only told part of the truth and that was that he had a bad time after he got to his home. Why wouldn't he just tell me the truth?

I never told him that I knew he wasn't telling the whole truth, all I wanted to do was make him calm down. He was a nervous wreck at the time and I did not want that getting any worse.

So, I sighed and said, "You can stay if you want. Unless, you have somewhere else to be. Not sure if you would like to go back to your house, though, after whatever happened to you yesterday."

Sans chuckled and went over to the couch. "i think that i will stay." He said to me, less nervous than he was earlier. It was obvious, though, that he was still a little nervous. I guessed that he needed a little more time to calm down.

While I was thinking about Sans being nervous, he sat down right next to me on the couch. Through the minutes, Sans seemed to calm down more and more. We had sat together for about five minutes before he seemed totally calmed.

It wasn't long after those five minutes that Sans wrapped his arm around my waist then pulled me in closer to him. It surprised me and made me call out and ask, "Sans! What are you doing?!" His strength surprised me even more than his sudden action, though. Even though he did not have muscles, his grip was firm and he seemed to be stronger than most humans.

All Sans did in response to my question was chuckle before suddenly kissing me on the lips. Well, again, half kiss. Skeletons still didn't have lips. I doubted that they would have lips anytime soon, though. I was still going to need time to adjust to the feel of teeth instead of lips. It was strange and I probably never would get used to it, but that made the experience all the better.

I could not stop myself from kissing him back. I loved him too much to stop and soon, we both found ourselves enjoying the kiss, hoping it would not end as fast as our previous kisses. Actually, it didn't end as fast. The kiss went on for a long time without either of us realizing it.

The kiss would have gone on for longer, but humans needed air. I had to break the kiss. When I did, there was a look of being let down on Sans's face as well as on my own. I did not want to end the kiss, but I had to. Air was greatly needed for human life. Of course, skeletons didn't have lungs, so they would not know that.
