After leaving the diner I went straight to my Lawyers office.
" Dave long time no see buddy. How's it going?" Asked Bill.
" Bill now is not the time. I just found out that I have a daughter, and to top it off someone adopted her already. How can you fix this. I want my daughter." I said
Kehlani was a cool person and all. It seems like she really takes care of Kari but I want my child. I need her living with me. Not some random other person.
" Well Dave that's a tough situation. But depending on your daughters age she may or may not be able to decide wether or not she wants to live with you or with her adoptive family." Bill said.
" She should be about 8 years old. Is that old enough?" I asked.
" The age for that is 13. But depending on the adoption process we can probably find a loop hole. To you know if this person is a legal guardian or a care guardian?" He asked me.
" What's the difference?" I asked.
" A legal guardian means that she has legal rights to your child. Which would make it harder for you to get her back. A care guardian means that she is providing your daughter with basic daily necessities and she has no true power. This means she won't stand a chance, and will have this court case in the bag." Bill said with a smirk.
" But the judge might bring up the fact that you weren't married to your daughter's mother. When you are not married you lose the rights to your child. But you still have to pay the maintenance fees that occur when you have a child." Bill said.
" Alright Bill. This is a lot to take in. I'll call you tomorrow. Make sure you serve Kehlani Parrish those papers." I said walking out the door.
Kehlani Parrish your gonna Hate Me Now.
