That's the sound my heart was making. I never been in a courtroom before. But it's really scary. The big man in the black robe called my name.
" Kari Chanel Smith to the stand please." He said.
The lady who they made me stay with for the past week walked me up there and I sat down.
"Raise your right hand." He said.
I did.
" Do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth ? " He said.
" I do." I said.
Mr. East lawyer started walking towards me.
" Can you tell me your name ?" He asked
" Umm it's Kari." I said.
" You don't have to be nervous. I just wanna ask you some questions." He said
"Okay." I said. But I was still nervous.
" So do you know why you are here ? " He asked me.
" No." I said.
" Well what if I told you were here because your dad Dave East wanted you to come live with him, but your foster guardian Kehlani wanted you to continue living with her." He said to me.
" Dave East is my dad ? If he is my dad why didn't he tell me when me and Keh met him. Why did he let me walk out of the diner ?" I asked.
" Because he wasn't sure until after it happened." Said the lawyer.
" Kari if you had to choose right now who would you want to live with ?" He asked.
" I'm sorry Mr. But I can't pick. I love Keh and I would love to know more about my dad to." I said. With my head down I ran off the stand and out of the courtroom.
