"So this is London?" Asked Eliza coming closer to Frankenstein.
"Mind your steps" muttered Frankenstein walking swiftly ahead.
"I thought it would be more..."Eliza's voice trailed off with disappointment.
"We're in the back alleys, I wouldn't want to meet anyone familiar" said Frankenstein walking without waiting.
Eliza looked around and the place was unbecoming, the fog was heavy and it was hard to make out anything within her very thin radius of sight. She followed Frankenstein closely and rapidly found herself clinging onto his coat whenever she heard the homeless moan. She was terrified and the smell was making her dizy.
Eliza saw corpses around, their fragile limbs buzzing with flies, she inhaled in fright, but continued walking. She occasionally saw women, waiting by the streets lights, their faces caked with exaggerated colours and lines. The women whistled and called out to Frankenstein who did not avert his focus away from the road. Upon hearing the scattering pieces of glass and drunk men tumbling out of pubs, Eliza clung onto his coat even more.
"Well well, is this the same stubborn lady who put on a show in front of all the people of her village, just to follow one man to London?" Asked Frankenstein still facing forward.
"T-these men" she said noticing a few groups of men fighting within slim alleys.
"Fine. Here" said Frankenstein holding out his hand.
Without hesitation Eliza clung onto his arm and walked face down."My my, I really cannot recognise you anymore" said Frankenstein, moving faster.
"If you speak a word of this to anyone in the village I'll-" Eliza chewed the end of her sentence when she heard some men yelling from afar her voice disappeared into Frankenstein's jacket.
"If I fall down from your cligginess, I'll dump you here and now
Not even the strongest acid could rid me of the stench of these floors" said Frankenstein.Frankenstein stood still. "This is the place" he muttered.
Soon a carriage would pass their way and stop in front of them. Frankenstein silently climbed into the carriage, Eliza did not wait long to follow.
The carriage was all black and led by two beautiful horses. They were well groomed and galloped like shadows through the grim fog.
"Beautiful" muttered Eliza, only focusing on the horses.
"These are Freisian horses, I see that Stoker's taste for the occult hasn't changed one bit" said Frankenstein.
"Why is that" asked Eliza perplexed.
"These horses... They lead the hearse" He replied.
