Masterpiece

Maybe she was already a masterpiece
And the blind critics of the world
Convinced her otherwise
Maybe she wasn't a masterpiece in the beginning
But she would make herself into one
That all the people who thought
She was a worthless piece of art
Will regret throwing her away
Maybe she was already prefect the way she was
And it was only under her own volition
That the masterpiece was hidden
Maybe her eyes had been ripped out and also her heart
and with them left the masterpiece that she tried to find
but the longer she search
the more the paint smeared
into an ugly grey
and with the grey came blue
and these were the dark days
that often were never bright
and therefore never would be again
