Chapter 5
The first month was over. Many students has already had it with the insane amount of homework given, I on the other hand loved the work to do. Not because I am that much of a nerd and that homework was fun to me, but it kept my mind busy from thinking about Ron. My heart ached knowing there was still 3 months until I could see him again.
McGonagall announced earlier a new event that was to take place at the end of the school year. Something she named "The Potter Day Ball". Taking place on the night of the end of the second Wizarding War, it was to be a night to honor those we lost and celebrate our freedom.
All the students were excited about the news. Accept for some Slytherins, but I think it was the name that bothered them most of all.
An idea crossed my mind, so after dinner, instead of joining the other Gryffindors in the common room of library, I went up the Headmistress' office. Only once arriving in front of the statue did I realize I didn't have the password. It thought logically. After a few attempts, the stairs appeared after saying "Potter".
I reached the wooden door and knocked gently.
"Come in," the woman's voice answered.
I opened the door and smiled warmly at my favorite teacher who was seated behind the desk. Behind her was a large portrait of Severus Snape. His cold black eyes looked down at me, but I knew his story, I knew everything, so I smiled up at him.
"Good evening, professor."
"To you too, miss Granger. To what do I owe this visit from my best student?" she asked.
Though she wasn't one who smiled often, she grinned at me as she invited me to sit down.
"Well, it's about the Potter Day ball actually," I started as I sat down in the seat Harry had sat on for years.
"Go on," she encouraged me.
"I was wondering if it was possible for former students to attend as well-"
"And by that you mean Mr Potter and Mr Weasley I suppose," she cut me off, raising a brow at me.
"Yes, that is what I mean," I laughed.
"Well, it is the Potter Day ball, I don't know why I would forbid Potter to come. He's the guest of honor. As for Mr Weasley, I don't see why not. I was actually planning on inviting much more people than the people at this school. The rest of the Order for example. So rest assured that they are invited," she explained.
"Oh, fantastic! Well, I hope I wasn't bothering you by coming..." I said, getting up to leave.
"Not at all," she said and looked back down at her papers. "Oh and miss Granger, tell me. Do you find the new Astronomy teacher odd? He suited the job, but still, there is something strange about him. Like the metal wand... I wouldn't talk about the school professors with any other student." she asked.
"Oh well... I do suppose the wand is odd. I've read up on wands and nowhere did I anything about those. But all around, I think he's a good teacher," I answered.
"Well then. Have a nice evening, miss Granger."
"Goodnight, ma'am."
And I walked out of the office and closed the door behind me.
Torches light the silent halls as I made my way to the common room. I mentally noted the homework I had yet done and places them by priority. Lost in my thought, suddenly, I stopped instantly.
A terrible feeling filled my body and I felt dizzy and sick to my stomach, I fell on my ass to the ground. A buzzing noise filled my ears and I managed to get up and stumble into the bathroom I was right next to.
I managed to walk to the sink and look into the mirror. The image I saw horrified me.
My eyes were blood red, only the pupil was still black. My ears were pointier and my bushy hair fell flat on my shoulders. My lips were turning a blue-ish shade and I cut my tongue on my now razor sharp teeth.
I was really panicking now.
