Chapter 6

I splashed my face with water, but nothing changed until I heard footsteps in the hall. As fast as it changed, my face was back to normal and my head was no longer spinning. It was as if what just happened was only a dream - or rather a nightmare.

I walked out of what I realized was the second floor girl's bathroom. Moaning Myrtle was somewhere down in the pipes and didn't see me. I closed the door behind me and breathed in to calm myself down. It was probably just seeing things right? And yet, I tasted the blood in my mouth from a cut on my tongue...

I shook it off and made my way, but as I turned a corner, I came face to face with professor Smith.

"Ah!" I screamed since he has frightened me and I was already jumpy.

"Ahhh!" he responded seeing me. "Why are we screaming?" he asked, looking confused.

"I'm screaming because you startled me. I don't know why you are!" I replied a little harshly, then remembered he was a teacher. "Sir.."

"I screamed because I thought we were yelling. Yelling can be fun!" he smiled.

"Oh, ok..."

"You seem awfully jumpy, miss Granger. Not to any trouble are you?" he asked suspiciously.

"Oh please, the only time I get in any trouble is with my best friends. They think just because they defeat a Dark Lord, they don't need to go to school," I rolled my eyes.

"Yes yes! I've heard of you being friends with Potter. Teachers talk, you know," he laughed. "What seems to be bothering you?"

I was looking over my shoulder where I thought I had heard something. Taking a deep breath, I looked back at Smith. I didn't know why, but... I felt like telling him. I knew he would think I was crazy, but something told me he'd listen. Maybe is was the concern in his eyes.

"Well... I-I'm not sure, but..." and I told him everything about my little experience. "Do you think I'm crazy?" I added after a short silence.

He looked troubled, but plastered a fake looking smile on his face.

"No, not at all. Maybe you just need some rest. Over whelmed with work, right? Most students are. You should probably go to bed early tonight, miss Granger. You can give me that paper next week," he said, trying to sound nonchalant.

"But, Sir, I've already written it-"

"Oh, good," he cut me off. " 10 points to Gryffindor for staying ahead on work! There is no reason for you not to go to bed. Goodnight!" he said as if he was in a hurry to leave and walked away taking long footsteps.

Yes, this teacher was definitely very special...
