Chapter 7

Another month went by rather quickly. I tried to put in my head that Smith was right, that I was just tired, but from what I remembered, I didn't feel the slightest bit sleepy that night. I wasn't able to sleep all night after the event. I also had a strange feeling that I was being watched when he was around, like he was observing me. Maybe I was going crazy.

Another thing that had me more perplexed was the lack of letters from Ron. Though we agreed on a letter per week, I had been three weeks without something from him. This deeply confused me and even had me worried.

I tried to concentrate on my Potion's homework, but kept zoning out, looking into the flames of the fire place without blinking.

"Hermione, you alright?" Ginny asked, pulling me back to reality.

I looked over at her and only noticed then that a tear had escaped from my eyes. I quickly whipped it away.

"Yeah..." I lied.

"What's wrong, Hermione," she said, setting down her Transfiguration’s manual and sitting closer to me.

"Nothing... well, maybe something..." I admitted.

"What?"

"Well, it's been 3 weeks that Ron hasn't written anything to me..."

"But Pig always brings you a letter," she frowned.

"From Harry, yes. But I haven't heard from Ron in a while. It's just... it worries me!"

A silence fell as she thought of what to say to comfort me. Before she could say a thing, Nadia Nelson, a 7th year Gryffindor girl with chocolaty hair and face covered in freckles came through the portrait and walked straight to us.

"Ginny, Luna is waiting for you in the library. She says she has something to show you," she announced and smiled shyly to me.

"Oh, ok. Thank you, Nadia," Ginny replied and looked back at me as the girl walked away to the dormitories. "Look, don't sweat it. You know Ron, he forgets and he procrastinates more than anyone. It doesn't mean he loves you less. I've got to go," she made a quick excuse for him and ran out, leaving me alone next to the fire place.

I supposed she was right, but still, it's not like I was just his best friend.
