Epilogue
My love story wasn't dramatic, sad or tragic; it was an awakening.
It was an awakening of hidden feelings, underlying emotions and unrevealed passion. It was an eye-opener to what love was and how it could be found even in the most unexpected places.
Like Chris.
Since the moment I met him, I never expected him to be more than an enemy, a guy I rigidly detested. But he exceeded my expectations. And for that I was glad because I couldn't have asked for a more amazing guy than Chris. Despite his imperfections and flaws, he was still perfect; perfect for me.
I could imagine our whole future together; growing up and going to university, graduating and getting jobs, getting married and having kids, growing old and wrinkly. Every single time, it was him. Chris.
And so when I found myself being pressed up against a wall on Christmas morning in an empty room decorated with mistletoe, I didn't resist the grin that immediately stretched across my face.
"Hey sweetheart." Chris greeted me softly as he stared down at me intensely.
"Hey." I answered back, grinning up at him. With Chris up close, I couldn't help but admire every feature and contour of his face, in awe of how handsome he actually was.
"You look absolutely beautiful, you know that right?" He mumbled as he gently leaned forward and nibbled on my earlobe.
"I do now." I managed to say as I felt Chris press up even closer to me until there wasn't even an inch of space left between us. My breathing instantly quickened at our close proximity and my heart raced.
"Hmm, that's good." Chris said as he placed light, feathery kisses along my neck. He continued to kiss along my bare skin, coming to an eventual stop at my lips.
When he paused, he placed a finger under my chin and pushed my face up, his gaze meeting mine. His eyes were full of emotions that I didn't have the ability to decipher; my mind was too hazy and blurry to comprehend anything other than the feel of Chris pressed up against me and his lips on my skin.
But Chris' next words immediately dragged me out of my blissful state, placing me in one that was now euphoric and out of this world.
"I love you." Chris whispered gently, bringing his lips close so they were now a breath away.
"I love you too." I replied without hesistation, grinning as a breath-taking smile formed on Chris' face.
In a blink of an eye, Chris' lips were pressed against mine and I was momentarily in shock, my brain trying to process what was going on. But once it registered, there was nothing stopping me from kissing him back.
Our lips moved gently in sync in a slow, sweet kiss. We had all the time in the world to cherish this feeling of love. There was nothing in our way.
As the kiss deepened, I wound my arms around Chris' neck, his hands in return curling into my hair, weaving through the locks. The kiss now had an urgent edge to it; passion, lust and desire slowly taking over our senses.
Breathless and out of oxygen, we finally pulled away from eachother. As Chris leaned his forehead against mine, he slowly opened his eyes, lips widening as he flashed me a heart-dropping smile.
"You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that," He told me, letting out a light laugh. "And now that I've kissed you, I'm never going to stop."
"Not unless we're under the mistletoe."
