It's the beginning of the end, guys.
Sakura, aged two hundred seventy six, looked at Konoha, no longer able to recognize it as her place of birth. She sat on Naruto's head, now eroded with age. It made her feel like crying.
Buildings nearly touched the sky and the hustle and bustle of the streets below could be heard at even this height.
Sakura couldn't believe how much Konoha had changed, and how that the large majority here was now civilian, there was only one ninja school in the whole of the Leaf Village despite the growing population.
Over the past few years, Sakura had refined her skilled even more and had even added a few to list. She liked to entertain herself with the thought that she had long since surpassed the Queen's abilities.
Suddenly letting out a gasped, Sakura was ripped out of her stupor. A pulsing sensation coursed through her veins, and a strong urge pushed her in a particular direction. Sakura gripped at her chest, trying to find the origin of this feelings and grabbed at the necklace. It had chosen it's successor.
Leaping to her feet, Sakura didn't even hesitate at throwing herself off of the giant stone head, whipping out her mask as she landed on the ground with ease. She found herself running, pushing herself to her limits. Leaping from rooftop to roof top, Sakura came to realize that she had already entered the outskirts of Konoha. Running through the forest, excitement clouded her vision.
Finally. Finally she would be able to teach someone everything she knew. Finally she would be able to pass this necklace on. Finally she would be able to join her loved ones.
Gasping for breath, Sakura made it to a small village. Jumping a fence, she stopped in front of a door. Once her breathing slowed, Sakura fixed her mask firmly on her face and made a decision. She was not gonna approach this the way the Queen did. She wasn't going to rip this girl away from her family and friends.
Pounding on the door loudly, Sakura didn't stop knocking until the door swung open to reveal an angry looking man. He had thick brown hair and narrow black eyes. "Do you need something?" He hissed.
"Yes, hello. I'm the Masked Cherry Blossom, I'm sure you've heard my name here or there. I have an immense amount of chakra, and it's probably not the greatest idea to get in my way." Sakura flared her chakra, causing the man's eyes to widen and the blood to leave his face. "So why don't we get along, starting by you moving aside." She hissed back.
Despite the fact that he was shaking and pale faced, the man stood his ground, not moving from his place in the doorway. "My family has done nothing wrong, I will not let you hurt them."
Sakura tilted her head, impressed by his bravery. She placed a gentle hand on his chest and pushed his back slightly. "Don't worry, I'm not here to harm you." As if all the muscles in his body stopped moving, he moved to the side and leaned heavily against the wall, letting Sakura pass.
She allowed the necklace to guide her through the narrow hallway into what seemed to be the living room. The tv was muted on some sort of action movie and all eyes were on her. There were two teenage boys with bright blue eyes and curly brown hair. A middle aged woman with black hair and blue eyes stuck her head out from what seemed to be the kitchen, peaking at Sakura through confused eyes . Some thing seemed vaguely familiar about these people, but Sakura couldn't seem to figure out what.
"Wait!" She paused at the man's voice, looking back at him as he followed her down the hallway. "What are you here for? What do you want?"
"I'm here to train one of your family." She answered simply. "But this doesn't seem right." She frowned at the family before her. "Do you have a daughter?"
The man pointed to a stair case in the corner of the room. "Karasu? She's upstairs in her room."
Following her necklace once more, she brushed past the two boys quickly, heading towards the stair case. The man rushed after her, the rest of the family following close behind him. The beating of the necklace was becoming stronger and stronger with each passing moment as she walked down the hall.
Finally, when the pulsing sensation got to a point where Sakura could barely take it, she stopped in front of a door at the end of the hall and the pulsing stopped. Sakura paused before knocking gently. Hearing soft footsteps padding towards the door, Sakura slipped off her mask, leaving the rest of the family wide eyed as they took in her features.
The door opened slowly to reveal a young girl, no older than eight. Much younger than Sakura when she had started training with the Queen. She blinked up at Sakura with big blue eyes, a wild mane of chestnut hair falling to just past her shoulder blades.
Kneeling down to her height, she looked the little girl straight in the eye. Sakura was frozen, unable to decide what to say to the next legend. The next Mask.
So she started with something simple. "Hey. My name's Sakura, your new teacher."
