Eyewitness: Philip and Lukas:

Therapy Sessions Part 1

To say Philip hated therapy was in understatement.

Currently Bo is driving Lukas and Philip to therapy. Awkward silence filling the car until they pulled up to the building.

"You boys ready." Bo said

"No." Philip and Lukas said simultaneously.

"Philip Shea and Lukas Waldenbeck  Dr.Maria is ready for you." A skinny brunette lady called.

Lukas looked back at his dad with the get me out of here look.

"Go on." Bo said

"Let's do this." Philip said interlocking him and Lukas' fingers.

As Philip and Lukas made their way into the office they took a look at their surroundings and noticed it didn't look very much like an office everything was well decorated and cozy looking, mainly because their were bean bags and a hand chair.

"Lukas, Philip Hi have a seat."

They decided to sit on the couch closely together.
"So lets jump right into it." Dr.Maria said. "Why don't you guys introduce yourselves and tell me a little bit about your personalities.

"I'll go first." Philip said. "Well, i'm Philip. Umm my birthday is December 2nd . I'm 17 and I like photography.

"What do your parents do Philip?"

"Well my mom is in rehab so i'm in foster care living with a couple named Helen & Gabe and umm.... Helen is the sheriff in Tivoli . Gabe is a vet."

"What about your biological father." Dr Maria said.

This made Philip really uncomfortable because he never talked about his dad ever . Not even to Lukas so for her to ask him this pissed him off a little even though he knows she's only doing her job.

Philip looks a Lukas nervously and Lukas just stares back. "It's okay baby." Lukas says to calm Philips nerves.

"Well.... I- i umm.. I don't know him. Like anything about him not even his name."

"How does he not being there affect you."

"I guess it doesn't really because i haven't thought about it for years because when i do i get really emotional." Philip said voice breaking.

"Why do you get emotional."

"Because I just wonder why he wasn't there for me when I needed him. Philip said tears dripping down his face. "I don't understand what I did to make him hate me. It's silly to cry because I've never met him. I'd like to think it wasn't me that drove him away but that's the only reason I can think of." Philip said crying even harder.

"Listen to me Philip." Dr. Maria said. "I don't even think you realize how strong you are. A lot of kids that I meet are in Foster care and they like to blame their Foster parents for themselves not being happy. As silly as it sounds... It happens. But you didn't get to have a great childhood like most kids do. You had to raise yourself from what you've told me. It takes a strong strong person to take care of an adult when their a kid themselves. As for your dad,  you can't beat yourself up about that. You can't blame yourself. I'll tell you what. How about I help you locate your dad and you can get all the answers you want. About photography , I think photography is a great way to get out of your own head. My brother is actually a professional photographer so next session bring me a file of your pictures and I'll show them to him and see what he thinks."

"Oh my God." Philip says. "Thank you so much." He says breathless. "Can I hug you? "

"Of course."

Philip stands up and gives Dr . Maria a lengthy hug. When they sit back down they jump straight into business.

"Okay.. Lukas tell me about yourself."
"Ummm. I'm Lukas obviously. I'm 17 and I love motocross.

"Motocross sounds dangerous. Are you any good?"

"Only the best." Lukas says.

"Okay don't get too cocky." Philip says pecking Lukas' lips still wiping away tears.

"Baby it's okay." Lukas says wiping away Philip tears away.

"Okay Lukas. What are your parents like. "

"Umm my mom passed away when I was younger and my dad is a business man."

"How does your dad view yours and Philips relationship?"

"Well, in the beginning when I told him we were dating he was being an asshole about it. Which I understood because I was that way at first. But he's grown to accept it." Lukas stated

"When you said you you understood because you were that way too, what do you mean?"

"Well when Philip and I started to talk we used to just make out non stop when we were together. I umm. ... I had a girlfriend at the time and I just I didn't want everyone to hate me because I liked a boy. So I kept going around pretending to like Rose."

"Rose being the ex girlfriend." Dr. Maria said to confirm.

"Yes." Lukas said. " So I would treat Philip like trash in front of everybody at school and then go to his house to make out with him behind closed doors."

"Can I be excused." Philip said.

"Why?" Dr. Maria asked.

"I just don't like talking about this because this also makes me sad."

"It's okay to cry when necessary Philip. Crying doesn't make you weak."
"Lukas, please continue." Dr.Maria said.

"There was this one time when Philip tried to ask me what time did I want him to film my practice afterschool because you know he films it. I instantly didn't know how to react because I told him not to talk to me at school--
"I'm sorry I forgot that you said that." Philip said crying.

"No- no.... baby no don't apologize to me." Lukas said bringing Philip into a hug. "I was the biggest asshole ever I don't see how you could ever forgive me for that."

"Okay Lukas." Dr. Maria said.

"We can finish that topic at a later time. For now let's talk about your mom. How was she from what you can remember."

"My mom." Lukas said letting Philip go from the hug.

"She was amazing. A lot like Philip just so caring and loving. Would give anyone a second chance no matter what they did. She was always there for others. You know everything with Philip and my relationship with my dad would be better if my mom was still here."

"How so?" Dr. Maria asked.

"My dad was the main reason why I was so hesitant to come out. I thought he would hate me forever. You know,  I thought he would abandoned me . I couldn't let that happened because my dad was all I had left."

"Lukas let me tell you something you can't let anyone dictate the way you choose to live your life. You also can't let anyone stand in front of or take away your happiness."
"You also said you and Philip got into a scruffle."

"Yea." Lukas said. "I punched him first and he fell to the ground." Lukas said voice cracking. "I kept punching him but he didn't swing on me not one time."

"Why is that Philip?"

"I love him. That's why and I couldn't do that. I could never hurt anyone intentionally."

"Philip I'm so sorry. " Lukas said.

"It's okay. You've apologized about a million times."

"Philip that says so much about your character and who you are as a person." Dr. Maria said.
"You truly are an inspiration to all that would listen to your story. You have one of the biggest hears ever... Let's not take anything away from Lukas either. You overcame homophobic people just to be with the person you love. You stood up to your dad just by telling him that you and Philip were dating. To me that's a huge milestone that you should be extremely proud of.
"Moving on Dr. Maria said. "Let's talk about you guys' relationship.
Philip and Lukas shared a smile.
