My doctor wanted me apparently to stay on a healthy diet for a week,and I still have to drink my smoothies because I'm 3lbs underweight which isn't a lot at all.
"It's only 3 pounds. Buy me some cookies and chips and I could gain it like that." I say
Bo laughs. Do my eyes deceive me? Did Bo Waldenbeck just laugh at me.
"It's not the same, babe." Lukas said.
We're having our annual family dinner that just started tonight. It was Gabe's idea obviously because he's a genius.
"Fucking doctor now?" I say trying to be quiet and sassy, while also keeping a light tone in my voice so it comes across as joking, I think everyone got the joke except for Helen because she's the only one not laughing.
She's still a little sensitive on letting me curse or not. But Gabe doesn't mind it because like he said, I'm just gonna do it anyways.
"Philip, we said we'd think about the cursing." Helen says her sharp eyebrows and he almost smiley cheeks are giving me a hard time reading her.
But then again she's Helen. Gabe can barely read her, and they're married.
"Helen, just let the boy be. I'm sure Bo let's Lukas curse, or let's not say let's. Let's say allows."
Gabe said motioning for Bo to say something.
"Lukas has been cursing for as long as I can remember. It's because I'm so used to hearing it I don't mind it as much."
Very. Very good answer Bo. Never thought I'd agree with him on anything.
All those times I've said Bo will never grow on me and vice versa. Man was I wrong, it's nice because I get to see the kind of support that a father and son should have. Gabe's always been there for me.
"True shit, dad."
Lukas says and everyone laughs.
"So, baby, I actually wanted to ask you something?" Lukas says looking over at everyone making sure he has everyone's attention.
He looks over at his dad and he gives him a nod.
I see Helen and Gabe smile so somethings going on and it involves them.
"So, most of my family is coming to Tivoli from Vermont next weekend and they'll be staying the whole week, and I want you to meet them." He says
I never knew Lukas had family in Vermont. After almost 2 years of dating. Maybe he's mentioned it before, but I don't remember at the moment I'm too stunned and shocked.
"Really?" I ask Lukas like he would lie to me about something like this.
He nods. Completely serious. All the spotlight and attention is on me now.
"But, what if they don't like me?" I say because it's true. That could be a real possibility.
"They'll love you because i love you." He says.
Helen and Gabe awwing in the background.
"Okay then." I say laughing. This is the next step in our relationship and I couldn't be more excited.
Let's just hope everything goes exactly perfectly right.
