Chapter 19

I ran through the halls. It was like a maze. A gray, cold, suffocating maze. I had only two things on my mind.

Get out.

Get Adam.

I thought these things as I continued running, adrenaline pumping through my veins. Then I heard something.

"Squid," I heard. It was Adams voice. Like when he teased me about it...

"Squid. Squid. Squid. Squid," it repeated over and over, but nothing was there. I didn't distract myself and kept running but another noise filled my ears, still with the simple 'Squid' chanting in the background.

It was his scream.

"Adam?!" I cried out, but I only heard more screams. They were droning me out. I couldn't focus.

"Adam where are you?!" I yelled. I fell to the ground. I covered my ears and squinted my eyes shut. Tears ran down my face. I could still hear the screams.

"Stop!" I yelled. Everything stopped. All the screams became silent. All of the grey became black. All of me. All of my senses were gone. I felt like I was floating in a silent black abyss. I couldn't speak, my mouth quivered when I tried. No noise came out. I could only think.

I thought of Adam.

And that was the last thing I ever did.

Curly's POV

A shock ran through my body as I fell to the ground. Adam turned around quickly and grabbed my hand. I leaped up and began running as fast as I could. "We don't have much time!" I yelled to him. Adam began trailing behind me. We were almost there...

We had begun our short journey to Mount Notch about an hour ago. That's where Ty was, trapped in a mental prison. I saw him from the outside, sitting in a barred off room, whispering to himself. The squids must've done something to him...

We ran faster until I stopped suddenly above the trap door that led to Ty. Adam rammed into the back of me and rolled over but I quickly sprang up, popping the trap door open and leaping inside. I ran down the gray hallways, knowing exactly which ones to follow. I held Adam's hand, guiding him along. Then finally we came to the door. It was an iron but I knew how to crack it open. I threw my hands out infront of me, warning Adam beforehand and blasted the door open. Adam ran inside and rested Ty's head on his lap.

"Ty...?" He choked out. I then fell on the floor, hands in my hair. Not because I had another prediction...no...this pain was much worse.

I had let Adam down. I let him lose the one person he loved most.

I couldn't save Ty...
