*Jason's pov.*
We enter the restaurant or should I rather say café. It's very small and only two people are sitting at one table. But it's very warm and kind of comfortable in here. The less people the better, right?
»I'll go and see if I can find a ride home for us«, Kail says.
Before I'm able to talk with him about our plan on how we're going to deal with the situation we're in right now, he walks outside. I take a deep breath and turn around to face Y/n. Her arm looks horrible.
»I-I think I'll go clean this up«, she tells me examining the long scratches.
»Do you need help?«
»No, thanks. I'm not a child anymore«, she replies laughing shortly.
I only nod and watch her leave to the bathroom. Sighing tiredly I sit myself at one of the tables. I look around the restaurant and catch sight of a cigarette machine. Meanwhile a waitress passes by me and I stop her.
»Excuse me«, I say grabbing her attention,»Could you give me a box of those cigarettes, please?«
»Of course«, she responds and makes her way to the automat.
When the waitress hands me the package I pay for it and she walks away. As I open the box I stare at the cigarettes inside of it.
It's been a long while since I've last smoked. I began when I was only fourteen. Family drama and school made it almost impossible to resist the toxic substance. I know it sounds silly but the times were bad back then. Seems like that didn't change. But I eventually stopped smoking because it really effected my lungs. My parents found out that I was smoking when they had to bring me to the hospital. I couldn't breath properly. But now I'm older and I need to release my stress.
Carefully I pull out one cigarette and take out my lighter which I'm always having with me. It's a present of Kim when we were still friends. Whatever, I light up the cigarette and put it between my lips. I close my eyes as I inhale the substance and open them again when I exhale the smoke.
»God, I missed that«, I whisper to myself.
Then I take some more strokes as suddenly the waitress interrupts me.
»I'm sorry, sir but you're not allowed to smoke in here«, she explains.
I nod understanding and take some of the napkins on the table to dispose my cigarette. After that my thoughts wander back to Y/n. Why is she taking that long?, I ask myself. Instantly I stand up from my seat and walk up to the toilets.
»Y/n, are you okay?«, I wonder and knock on the door.
As I hear no response I enter the bathroom. Then I see Y/n standing in front of the sink. Her hair is covering her face. I get closer to her and she faces me.
»Hey, what's wrong?«, I ask worried when I examine tears rolling down her cheeks.
Without any furthermore Y/n hugs me and I embrace her body with my arms. She starts to cry on my shoulder and I caress her soft hair. I hate this feeling. This feeling of sadness. To be honest I've never really believed in emotions because I've never really had any. I was always kind of numb. But Y/n makes me...never mind.
»Y-you were right«, she tells me and sniffs.
Our eyes meet and I wipe away her tears.
»About what?«
»I-I am adopted and I have no idea how to live with that also knowing my real parents died«, she replies fast causing me to grab her arms gently.
Y/n jumps up a bit when I touch her scratches. I examine them and get concerned when I see the flaming redness.
»Let me take care of that«, I say and catch sight of a first aid kit on the wall.
I open it and take out a bandage. First I tell Y/n to wash away the blood on her arm with cold water before using the bandage.
»Thank you«, she says.
»Tell me now«, I begin to say,»How do you know you're adopted?«
»I talked to my parents and they also told me that Austin will leave town which means I have literally no one anymore«, Y/n explains.
I think about some proper words to tell her but get stuck. I'm sorry for her. She doesn't deserve this.
»You still have your parents and me«, I respond,»We'll get this-«
»There is no 'we', Jason«, she raises her voice.
Confused I look at her. The thing with her family must really got her shook.
»What do you mean?«
»Don't you see it? Ever since we met our lives got complicated and we only experienced terrible things together«, Y/n says,»A kiss won't change the fact that we're just not good for each other. Plus I first have to find out who I truly am before taking any step further.«
»Well, there were a few kisses only some minutes ago but I guess you're right«, I answer causing her to stare at me surprised,»Like I said I never had a real relationship and I don't look forward to having one anyway.«
Suddenly silence surrounds us. I start to feel uncomfortable and try to look everywhere but at Y/n. My heart begins to race but I keep a straight face.
»Good«, she says,»As soon as we're safe we'll go separate ways and forget about each other.«
»Sounds perfect«, I reply still feeling kind of nervous.
After some seconds we walk out of the bathroom and decide to search for Kail. When we get outside we see him already sitting in a car.
»Where did you get that car from?«, I wonder.
»Let's say I borrowed it«, Kail replies causing me to grin.
I sit in the driver's seat and Y/n right beside me. When I start the engine I think abut a good place to go to, but fail.
»I have an idea«, Y/n says.
Then I watch her type a message on her phone.
»What did you do?«
»I arranged us a sleeping place«, she replies.
